Gift Ideas Please

Cathlete
Hi all. Need your help please. I coach a junior drill team (my first year as coach) and we have our season-end recital next week. My girls are grades K-8. The local high school drill team girls are invaluable assistants to me. They help me teach the routines, come to most of the parades and performances, and attend almost every practice (that's every FRIDAY afternoon from January till October). Now their involvement is a fundraiser for their high school team - so their involvement with my team generates some funds for their team.

There are anywhere between 2 and 10 high school girls helping me - depends on availability. I need to get them some kind of appreciation gift for the recital and I have about $200 to spend. These girls DO socialize together (I asked one of their moms). I was thinking of getting them gift cards, like $100.00 to a local movie theater, $50.00 to a local coffee shop and $50.00 to a local ice cream parlor, and giving these to them as a whole. It may not cover the whole expense for all of them, but it would make a dent in an evening out for whomever could go - whenever they could go.

But I would so appreciate any other ideas that any of you may have. TIA

Instead of giving them gifts as a whole, how about giving each of them gift cards for something like iTunes? Is there a high school kid in existence now that doesn't have an iPod or other MP3 player? :)

For that amount of money, even if it only came out to $20 per girl, that's still a nice amount of music.

Hi Lorie! I think your idea is great, I have a teenage daughter and I know she would those, especially the movie theater one!:D Sandy

Lorrie,
I agree that individual gift cards might be better. This way it ensures that everyone has a fair say in how the gift is spent, and with teenage girls you never know from one week to the next who might be feuding. I'd say the movies, the mall, or Visa/Amex check cards are always safe bets. I'm sure they will be quite surprised and appreciative no matter the amount.

I like the idea of iTunes. Each girl will gwt something personal. I was also going to suggest a journal or a diary type of book, one with the blank pages.
