Help me ladies!:D:eek:

My FIL has a birthday this week. He's in his mid-50's and to say he has everything he could ever want is an understatement! I'm glad for him ..... he's worked his tail off and deserves it. But what to get him for a birthday gift? And Father's Day next week to boot!?

He's into flying, old cars, antiques, and guns.

Anybody have any creative ideas?

Thanks so much!
Oh, btw....his party is Thursday so I can't shop online and have something shipped! I'm a little behind the 8-ball, I know!:eek:

Kate: My FIL is the same way- has EVERYTHING! It is hard to buy for him. He loves to work on his Harley so we bought him a cool new stool for his garage this past year. Does he take flying lessons? Do you have a shooting range near you guys? Maybe a GC for something like that? FILs are hard!

Father's Day: Have the girls make a sign on three pieces of poster board- one word on each sign, like "We love Grandpa!" Let them make it really special and glittery and stuff- then take a pic of each girl holding one sign. Print out the pics and put in order in a triple picture frame. Done!

patti, thanks so much! he actually has his pilots license....and several planes to go with it!:p but the shooting range gc is a great idea! he & dh go every so often together.
awesome dads day idea too!
thank you!!!!

Patti, I love your "We love Grandpa" idea. I'm going out tomorrow to buy some glitter. :D My girls will have a ball!

I'm a stained glass hobbiest and have made kaleidescope airplanes for pilot friends. They really are very cool. If you live in an area that has stained glass shops you may find that they have some for sale in their shops. I've seen them for sale before. They are very cool.

Also, does he only fly planes or is he also interested in skydiving? A GC for skydiving would be cool. My brother is a pilot and got this as a gift. He is a regular skydiver now too, ha!

You could also go to an antique shop and see what you find. My mother had an antique shop (4000 square feet of stuff) and had some really wonderful things in there. You could find something unique.

A GC to a restaurant is always my back up. Everyone eats and nobody likes to do dishes.

Maybe a Gander Mountain or Cabelas gift certificate. I also like the restaurant GC idea, too.

My FIL is the same. For Christmas I got him an MP3 player. My husband thought it was a bad idea but guess what? He called and said that he always wanted one of those! I never received a thank you call for a gift to him before this so I guess I struck paydirt.

He uses it when he gardens and works out!
