Getting Strong. Building Health.

Hello to everyone who may read this! It's been a while since I have done check-ins and now is a good time!

I'm about to do LMR Functional Upper Body. I add a few more pounds to the weight work on this series and am really looking forward to LMR2!

What is your workout plan?

My plan involves lots of variety!
Daily DVD whim choice between these categories: banded work, kettlebells, Pilates, steady state cardio and lots of mobility and rest thrown in for good measure.

Are you planning on following one of the LMR rotations?

Whee! Hello! I'm excited to be checking in after a long absence here in the forums, and sketchy workout habits in general. This month's plan is to do a heavy UB and a heavy LB 1-2 times, a metabolic workout, a hit/sprint/cardio thing, and a zone 2 walk in each week.

Today's plan is a 45-minute walk (but the day is getting away from me, eek)
And, just to show my earnest intentions, this week's workouts included: RWH Plyo 2, LMR2 TBMS, and STS2 Trisets TB, STS2 - LB2.
Waves, Jody : D

Sunday- I got canceled from work today. I did STS2-GSTB and a walk.
Tigger, I don't have LMR- I think it is the only Cathe I am missing. I should research it. I just ordered the LMR2 series. I really liked the preorder bonus, TBMS.
Vol, do you get to do a DVD most every day? I should incorporate more mobility and yoga stretchy stuff.
Have a great week. Jody

Hi Vol and Jody!

That's awesome you do a lot of variety Vol! I mostly do Cathe workouts and follow her monthly rotations. With some modifications because I don't workout 6 days a week. :) I also do a lot of walking year round with or without my dog and now that it is summer, I climb the 88 stairs we have outside not too far from me. I do more stretching and mobility in the winter I think because I love being outside when the weather is good. I live in WA state where the summers are beautiful and not humid.

Jody, I like LMR but it isn't as challenging as some of Cathe's other series in terms of weights used. But you can always increase the weights. I really like the different moves used to help with balance but I am looking forward to LMR2 with more changing weight and moves. I just did the LMR2 bonus on Friday and really like it!

Today was stair climbing and yard max. :p That is me sweating through both. :)

Oh let me clarify, @Faithnveggies on my workout days I usually have a rotation but often deviate from my original selection ( pick a DVD from a similar category on a whim)
I don't do DVD workouts every day. I believe in full rest days from strength training and often do mobility training or sometimes just a day of Classical stretch or short pilates.
You are quite lucky to have pleasant summers @Tigger

No workout yet today, despite it being a day off, and my plan was for a long walk. My "real" workouts will be later this week. My morning included Mom care, and this afternoon has been time-sensitive planning of a hiking trip in NH. Does anyone have experience with flying American and a 39-minute connection at DCA?
Linda, here I was thinking you were busting out major workouts every day! Thanks for the clarification. I aspire to work out 3 - 4 days and have narrowed it down to the ones I listed above, but fall short. But I'm here and back, so that is good for me, at least for now.
Tracy, also LOL at YardMax and StairMax! Now I wonder if you know your 88 times tables?
I'll be back.

I can't take credit for yard max, Jody came up with that and I stole it! Now Jody has given me stair max too! And no, I do not know my 88 times tables!

Linda, I think that's wonderful you do full rest days and mobility work. I have always struggled with doing that, believing my muscles will literally shrivel up and die of I don't work them almost every time I work out. But I also love working my muscles almost every time I work out! :p

Jody, are you caring for your mum these days? I don't have any experience flying American, sorry.

I'm doing Cathe's April rotation and today was All Out LI Hiit and I think I sweated about a gallon. We hit 90 today and we're just not used to that, even when working out indoors with a/c! I am spoiled here.

Flight update- we changed flights to avoid the short layover- I kinda wanted to risk it. This is for hiking in NH in early Sept with a couple of local hiking friends- one has a place up there every summer. AT, the Whites and the Presidentials are possible hike areas, I believe, but I'm mostly deferring to my friend. I am nervous about flying on Sept 11 through the NE area. : ( But, I'm looking forward to 4 days of big ass hikes.
: D
Yes, I am doing a lot of care for mom, but she still lives alone. But doesn't drive, has a decent amount of dementia. I'm sure I will be filling you in.
I did LMR2 TBMS again- I used the suggested weights for most of it but hit pause between sets. I love this workout!
Going for a haircut right now. Waiting on chatgpt to help me imagine what I want! TTYL

Hello all,
My workout wrap up for this week is SB IMAX4 yesterday, STS2 UB1 premix this morning, and a 40-minute walk after lunch in 92-degree heat with a feels-like 95. Sheesh. Sun and Mon are work days, steps and stairs. I'm happy with the cut and color; it was fun playing with some AI to try different looks. Chat kept giving me eyeliner, though. Should I try it? LOL

Tracy, I love all the rotation options and variety we get with Cathe. It is so awesome that she posts the rotations. I would also have to modify them to work out fewer days. How did you like STS2? Did you do any of those rotations?

Waves at Vol and Nicki~

Edit to add that it is really fun to be checking in here and feel inspired by all the fitness and reminded of all the great workouts I have available to me. :)

Hi everyone! I take it you still have to change planes on your flight now but without the layover Jody? You are a risk-taker! I do everything I can to make a flight easy for me since it's such a pain. That can't always happen though. I had a 6 a.m. flight a few months ago and was sick as all get out from a norovirus but I made it through! I will send good thoughts for your flight that day. Are you backpacking your hikes or will you get a to sleep in a nice bed each night? I hope you get some big ass hikes in!

I really like STS2 but I am not doing the STS rotation. I use them as separate workouts and in the monthly rotations Cathe puts together. I have the stamina to do a one month rotation with a program before I lose all motivation. :p

Let's see. Party Rockin' Step 1, then STS Upper Body 2 to finish the week. Stair max and walks with the dog on the weekend. Yard max today! I may do Cathe's latest download this coming week. :)

Hi Linda and Nikki! Hope you all are having a great weekend.

Tracy, did you end up with the latest download this week? It's not the LMR2 one, though? I considered trying PRstep or AOLIH (as you have recently done) instead of my planned SB-IMAX4, but in the end, I stuck with the plan. Wow, you had Noro? Sorry to hear that, and pleased you survived.

We switched flights to avoid the short layover, just in case, but that is why we have the early 645 am flight now. I told my friend I would pick her up at 530. That part truly stinks. But she didn't want the early flight, and I didn't want to arrive late in the day. So that was the compromise. There is a nice group of ladies who hike in this area. One of them has a place in NH every year. So another friend and I are going to stay for a few days, and we will day hike from her home. So, beds and mountain views, but no backpacking.

This week's plan is for heavy UB, heavy LB, and a cardio blast type workout. I missed my workout on Tues due to Mom care, but did LMR2 TBMS yesterday and IMAX 4 this morning. Tomorrow should be another heavy UB/LB workout, TBD. I was also thinking that I should be doing a long zone 2 training each week. But- I listened to a new perspective/pod on that topic and now, I don't think that that type of training is more beneficial than my other workouts. So, in other words, I don't feel guilty about doing an IMAX instead of zone 2. BUT! I do think I need to insert a 10 to 20-minute walk after each of my meals.

Sorry, this is getting too long. Y'all have a good week. : D

Cathe-isms I have enjoyed this week: "not a vacation", "show me your teeth", "jump higher."

Edit to add that I did STS2 TSTB (an abbreviated premix), today, Sat.

Hi Jody! The next download comes out August 1 so I did the LMR2 Metabolic one again yesterday. Yesterday was Friday, right? :p Long week!

I am not familiar with Zone workouts. What is that? You are really getting a lot in! Please don't feel guilty that you are not doing enough! I did IMAX 4 this past week too and sweated something fierce yet again. I prefer cardio in the winter I say! I get some walks in with my dog and they aren't for me really so I just consider them a bonus.

You vacation hikes sound great other than the early flight but I understand your compromise. And a nice comfy bed and the ability to take a shower is wonderful! Thank you for you kind words about the noro virus, I wouldn't wish it on anyone!

I plan to do the Pure Strength series next week because a friend mentioned she's doing it and I haven't touched it in probably a decade. We'll see of I can keep up with the younger Cathe!

Today, I got a special workout. :D My sister is celebrating a new decade birthday and she invited 9 of her friends to smash a car with her at a rage room. It was awesome!! I got some great use out of a sledgehammer! And Cathe's workouts totally paid off. My sister was impressed with my upper body strength. We did some good damage to an older Ford van and it still had the glass in it. We all felt fantastic after we were done and again, I sweated something fierce in heavy coveralls, a hard hat and heavy gloves. I highly recommend it if you get a chance to do it.

Sorry for the long post! Hope you all have a great Sunday and new week!
