Getting Harder to Workout

Clarissa

Cathlete
Hey all! I am 24 weeks along and although I am a personal trainer and believe it is very important to stay in shape, I am finding it harder to workout everyday. I get a lot of ligament pains in the uterus area - even if I walk (not a gentle walk...I do pretty high inclines on a 4.0-4.4 mph) and I can't do kickboxing because I get those shooting pains too when I kick my legs. I can lift still - almost the same except for the bent-over rows, but I don't just want to lift all the time without doing cardio. I am super-motivated and feel great, but the pain I get is very limiting. This is my 3rd baby. I don't want to gain much weight. WHen I feel really good I do step aerobics like BM2, but even then I get so many braxton-hicks that it worries me... Anyone else go through this??

TIA<

I just had my third baby 5 weeks ago:) After 20 weeks the only cardio I could do was the elliptical. I continued with weghts and the elliptical until I had my baby. Good luck!

Im 28 weeks and im still doingmy normal cardio and weight routines. however the past couple of weeks i have noticed a lot of pain in my feet. i dont know if its due to swelling, or if my feet grew or what. but all of a sudden my shoes feel tight and my feet hurt - both of them, especially in the arch area. it hurts usually by 20 minutes into the workout. i have to take some breaks and try to stretch it out. i have energy and want to workout but the pain in my feet makes it very hard to enjoy working out.
i dont know if anyone else experiences this as well??
I do not have your symptoms, but i think its probably best we should listen to our bodies. im thinking maybedoing lower intenstiy/ lower impact. my feet hurt the worst during step as opposed to hi/lo. but they hurt regardless!
this was probbaly not a helpful response at all :)

Hi,

Well, as a doctor would suggest you to do some exercise daily. Doing exercise will benefit you as well as your baby. Best Luck and take care.

Jenmgo, I am having exactly the same problems with my feet as you are. I am 23 weeks and still running (ironically running is the most comfortable cardio activity for me right now) but I have to stop periodically to stretch the arches in my feet and stretch my calves. I had to buy new running shoes because my other ones felt too tight and my toes were hitting the end. So strange. I don't know what is causing the pain, but the only thing I've found to help is stretching my calves very, very well before any cardio and stretching my feet by standing on the edge of a stair and dropping my heels.
Clarissa, I've had some similar pains you are describing and have began to stay away from the types of cardio or lifting that aggravate that area in the inner thigh/groin/uterus area. Like I mentioned before, running is the most comfortable activity for me now, so I have cut back on step and cycling. I would say try and find an activity that feels good and stick with it for a week or two and then try some other things again. Every week brings new changes and you may feel better in a few weeks.

thanks for the input lulu. mine gets aggrevated when i do step workouts. I did Amy's in the ring (a hi/lo kickbox style workout) yesterday and Tracey Staehle's Circuit Zone today and i really did not have a problem. Its just the steady cardio/step workouts.

Did u buy bigger shoes? did it help? I am wondering if my foot grew or if its just in pain

thanks!

Hi Jenmgo, I did buy a 1/2 size bigger shoe and they feel much more comfy. I still have to occasionally have to stop mid-workout to stretch, but the extra room feels much better. I don't know if my feet grew or if they are swollen, but my old shoes feel too constricting now.
