general frustration with work......

How many of you out there are so frustrated with work that you have had your resignation letter ready for months or years?? What stops people from giving it!!?? I have been ready to quit since the day I started, and its come to the point where its hardly bearable - good workouts help with the stress, but is it worth hating your life for forty hours a week? x( x(

Any good workouts that work well for taking the anger & frustration out? Or good books on how to make a career change asap!

Any help or advice would be great! :)

I can't really help you with your work situation, except to tell you that when I felt really down about my job I took one class a semester until I found something I really loved, & then I decided to make a career out of it. It was the best thing I ever did for myself.

Regarding a good stress relieving workout, have you tried boxing? My gym actually has a boxing studio w/heavy bags & speed bags, & while I enjoy workouts like KPC, there ain't nothing like really being able to pound on something tangible!

I think what holds people back is the fear of being broke. The only way I would quit a job is if I had something else lined up. Unless I was able to live off my husband's income, which I can't. Fortunately, I'm treated very well at my job and they'll have to kick me out screaming and clawing.

Is there someone that you can talk to at work that might improve the situation for you? If you are *that* unhappy and nobody can make positive changes, it's time to say goodbye. You are at work for more hours in the day than you are at home. If you are genuinely that unhappy you need to make a change. Is it the job in general or just the specific place that you work at? Are you changing a whole career or just location?

most people stay where they are for fear of losing income, not finding something better (maknjig their situation actually worse by leaving), comfort, etc., but I know from the people that I find around me, they have actually benefitted in the end from making a chnge. Take inventory and see what it is that makes you unhappy and then figure out how to fix it.

Good Luck :)

I had such a job and I handed in my resignation. It was 55-60 unbearable hours a week and killed the rest of my life also and it jsut didn't make sense to continue. I knew I could support myself, once again, taking a more "demeaning" job until I found another "professional" position.

What holds people back is 1) lack of a backup plan and 2) fear that they will not find anything as good or better.

I carry no debt except for my mortage, so at least I don't have to worry about payments.
