Good Morning!

Today was 3 mile run and then KM and yes, like Marcy said yesterday, those drills are exhausting! I had to take a break in the middle of the explosive lunges!:p }( x(
I'm having a group of ladies over for lunch today. Nothing like having company to make you clean up your house. (unless your selling your house like Marcy!)

Deanie--WTG on the workout! Hope you enjoy your conference.

Tracee--How is your ds doing?

Marcy--Did you watch DWTS? I loved watching the dancers when JLo was singing!

Have a great day!

Hi Ladies!

This morning was PS Chest, Shoulders & Tris (which was fortunate because I woke up late!). I thought this workout was much more effective than Back & Biceps. Like Deanie, the T-Bar rows and shrugs did nothing for me but biceps were good for me and I was able to go my heaviest on the barbell curls. I wanted to do abs this morning but ran out of time so I'm going to try and fit in one of Cathe's new ab workouts tonight. Here are my stats for today:

Chest:

Bbl Bench Press (light) - 26#
Bbl Bench Press (heavy) - 50# (my heaviest so far!)
Bbl Incline bench press - 50# (Set 1 - 10 reps, Set 2 - 8 reps)
Dbl Incline bench press - 21#
Dbl Incline fly - 21# - 8 reps
Supersets (press and fly) - 19# - only 7 reps

Shoulders:

Arnold Press - S1 - 15#, 10 reps, S2 - 15# 7 reps, 13# 1 rep, S3 - 13# - 8 reps
Seated Clean & Press - Both sets 8# (I like this exercise)
Standing Side Lat Raise - 10# both sets
Reverse Flys - 2 sets at 8#
Seated Lat Raises - 8# (1 set at 16 reps)
(I probably could've gone heavier on everything except the Arnold Press)

Tris:

Close Grip Press (pyramid down 12-10-8 reps) - 15# all sets
Db French Press - Both sets at 10#
Cross Body Kickbacks - 2 sets at 10#
Db French Press - 1 set of 12 reps at 10#
Dips with 36# barbell - 2 sets

I previewed Legs & Core last night. I'm probably not going to be doing Legs since this is heavy lifting and a lot of squats. Here's a short breakdown:

Round 1 - Barbell squats - 20# 32 squats in all at different counts
Front squats - 35# barbell standing with heels on 2x4 feet together, bar in frtong of your chest hands together - 1 set at 12 reps and the next at 8 reps
Deadlifts - 20# dbbls standing on high step topper - 2 sets at 8 reps

Round 2 - Plie squats - high step at 6" (1) 30# dbbl - Bend down, pick up weight, put it down and stand - alternating arms - 2 sets at 16 reps
Put topper back on step
Leg press from side with 20# dbbl - 2 sets of 12 reps on each side

Round 3 - Low Plane Lunges - Put top of foot on high step - front foot is by dbbls (like a runner's stance) - 2 sets at 10 reps
Leg Press (focus on outer thigh) (3 risers) 12# dbbl and 5# ankle weights - 12 reps (like in Legs & Glutes)

Round 4 - Band - Sitting on step criss cross band in feet and push foot out to side, alternating feet, then 4 to one side and 4 to the other
Another round of barbell squats with 40# barbell varying counts

Core work:

Leg Thrusts (Deanie - these are like in and outs in Ab Ripper X)
Split leg - pulse up for 1, then 2, then 3 and then 4 and down.
Leg Thrusts again
Split Leg again
Oblique crunches and then straight leg lift with arm to thigh
Roll up with 2 quick jabs and roll down - 12 reps
Lying flat with hands overhead pulses to ceiling
Jabs again
Pulses again

I think I like the ab work in Shoulders, Calves & Core better but both ab workouts look good.

Deanie - Thanks for posting your weights for PS a while back. I used it as a guide which worked pretty well. Hope you have a good conference. Sorry we won't be talking later.

Gin - Those were a lot of mean looking faces you posted after those drills! Are you glutes screaming at you yet? Enjoy your lunch today. Isn't cleaning fun?:D I watched DWTS. I'm glad Mark went home. I watched it late so I was kind of fading in and out when J Lo was performing with the dancers but from what I saw it looked really good.

Tracee - Glad you enjoyed LIS. I hope everything works out with DS. Is choir like an elective where he may be able to choose a different one or is he stuck with it? Will you be talking with the teacher about the bully?

Sorry for the long post but thought you'd like the breakdown of Legs & Core. Hope you all have a great day. BBL.

Good morning (almost afternoon)!

I woke up way too early again today but instead of staying in bed and trying to fall back to sleep I got up and did PS Chest, Shoulders and Tris. It was a good workout but I know I could have gone heavier on a few of the sets and I just didn't want to spend the time to drag the different set of weights out.

My ds still had trouble this morning at school and I talked to him on the phone and then had the vice principal talk to him for a while. We are thinking it's an anxiety issue. He's worried that something bad is going to happen to him or his family. We're going to look more into that and see if we can get him some counseling to work through these issues when they come up. He was able to get his choir class changed so I know he'll be happy about that. It is an elective that he chose at the end of last year and I'm not quite sure why he chose it but I'm glad that they are going to let him switch.

I didn't watch too much of DWTS last night. I did see one of JLo's performances and I saw that mark got the boot. Now it's going to be really hard to see any of the people go home.

Have a good day. I'm exhausted from all this stress about my ds. Raising kids is hard work!!!

Tracee

Hi Tracee!

Glad to hear DS got his class changed. Hopefully that will alleviate some of the pressure. Raising kids is the hardest job you'll ever have. After all the things my DH and I have told the kids, now that my DS has moved out his roomie is telling him the same things we did but he listens more to the roomie that he did with us. (At least I'm thankful he has a positive role model he's living with now. The last couple he had I wasn't happy about but at least he had the good sense to see that it wasn't a good situation and got out.) DS wil be starting culinary school in January and now has a job so things are looking up.

I had every weight all over my living room this morning. With S&H, I was able to use more of the same weight. I hate changing weights all the time too.

I agree about DWTS - it's going to be hard to see anyone else leave. I think they all have the potential to go far, some maybe a little more than others but they all have been getting better.

Hi Again!

I just had an idea I'd like to try with the 4-day split:

M - All Upper Body Premix
T - 30 mins. cardio plus legs and core
W - All Upper Body Premix
T - 30 mins. cardio plus legs and core
F - Yoga

This way I get to work all body parts twice in one week and still get my yoga in as well. I'll switch off the cardio every week. I know this might not be enough cardio for you guys but since I dance every week, one more hour should be enough for me. I won't be doing the legs from this series. I'll incorporate other leg work.

Let me know what you guys think.

Marcy

Hi Again!

Well, my guests have gone home and the house is all clean!:)

Marcy--Good workout with PS! Thanks for posting the new Legs and Core breakdown. Which leg workout is your favorite? My friend that borrowed B&G said after trying it one time that I was a stronger woman than she was and I could have it back. And I'm not sure how much of it she did since she didn't have most of the equipment.
I have done the abs in LIS...good. No, my glutes are not sore....yet.:7 Great that your ds will be starting culinary school soon. It is great when they know what they want to do. When do you plan to start this 4 day split routine? I want to see what Cathe comes up with for November rotation.

Tracee--Yeah for getting up and doing PS CST! Keep us posted on your ds. Could it be anything that he has watched on tv or something someone has said that has him upset? Hang in there with him. It isn't easy to parent, like you said, but I know you are a good mom.

Gin:)

Gin - I think Legs & Glutes is my favorite leg workout. I like the variety and the music. It's not too long and it doesn't have so my squats and lunges. I plan on starting the 4 day split in November but I'll also be checking what Cathe has dreamed up. I think I like the abs better in LIS than from Kickbox, Legs & Core. I'm glad you got your DVD back from your friend. It's a shame she gave up so easily. I just got off the phone with my mom and tried to convince her to do some exercise (she does none). She's been having trouble sleeping and I told her since I started to exercise regularly, I haven't had any sleep problems. She started making excuses how she didn't have the time but I told her to at least do something on the weekend. She actually shocked me by saying she had a few Richard Simmons DVDs but I don't know if she's actually done them. I always remember that my grandparents took a walk every night after dinner. They would take their car, drive to a spot, take a walk, then come back to the car and drive home. They did that for as long as I can remember. I hope my mom starts doing something soon. It turns out my brother has mentioned it too but I guess she gave him the same excuses.
