Some of you may remember Gayle from the Road Trip or from her posts as banslug. She has been training for the Disney World Marathon in January. With less than 5 weeks to go I'm sure she is getting very excited. She is running on behalf of the Leukemia Team in Training. You can see her personal story and why she chose the Leukemia Society at :

If any of you have advice or well wishes for her I'm sure she would be glad to hear from you. This is her first marathon. Are there any other Catheites that are running the Disney Marathon?

Jean...thank you for posting Gayle's site. I had been wondering how things were going...:)...January will be here soon. I wish her well...:)...Carole

Oh, Jean, thanks!

Hi, Carole.

Just a quick update if anybody's interested. I was down and out for almost 3 weeks with knee problems. It started in my right knee after my 14 miler. BAD! I couldn't bend it, couldn't even walk without it hurting. 2 weeks later, the Ortho said I just need to stretch and the specialty running store gave me a new pair of sneaks for my overpronating feet. Then on my 16 miler, I twisted my left ankle something FIERCE, but recovered in 24 hours, just in time for the pain to move to my left knee! GEESH!

NOW....I ran 18 miles this past Sunday ON THE TREADMILL, since the weather kept all my babysitters plowing snow or working. FEELING GOOD and back at it this week full speed ahead.

The fundraising is going fairly well, and that's the part I was worried about the most.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

Gayle

Wow!!! Gayle, Way to go! Injuries bite don't they, but the strong recover quickly. Have a great time and good luck!

Good luck Gayle!!!!!! I'm thinking of you!!!

:)

P.S. How did you manage to run 18 miles on a treadmill??? Did you use some kind of strategy? I get so bored on treadmills if I go too long.

Thanks, guys! I really appreciate all the support.

Dani-it was HARD! LOL. I did my 12 miler on the TM, but promised myself I wouldn't do any further distances than that. Guess I was wrong! LOL. I bought myself an MP3 player on Black Friday, so I took that to the treadmill with me. Usually I just watch TV or a movie, but I thought I'd need a change for 18 miles! LOL. I had to get up early, first of all, to do it, since I knew it would take me around 3 hours and I couldn't let my boys ripping the house apart upstairs for 3 hours! LOL. I told them the night before, that I'd be up early and in the basement and all the details. Told them if they needed me, that I wouldn't be able to hear them call me, so they should flash the lights quickly to get my attention! LOL. It was quite funny.

Anyway (sorry to ramble), the first 2 hours I listened to music, but then the kids woke up and down my younger son came (5 years old). He watched his cartoons while jumping on my mini tramp for the last hour, so I had some conversation for the last part!

I sure hope I can get a sitter for my 20 miler next weekend! LOL

Gayle
