HI EVERYONE,
I STARTED CXT SERIES AND HAVE BEEN DOING IT FOR 2 WEEKS I HAVE NOT EXERCISED IN ABOUT 6 MONTHS BECAUSE OF BEING PREGNANT.
SO I STARED WITH THE CXT SERIES AND HAVE GAINED 3 POUNDS I AM FOLLOWING THE WEIGHT WATCHERS PROGRAM AND EATING HEALTHY.
MY QUESTION IS I REALLY WANT TO LOSE 50 POUNDS SHOULD I GIVE UP WEIGHT TRAINING AND JUST DO CARDIO OR SWITCH TO MIS OR ANOTHER TAPE OR SHOULD I JUST STICK WITH THE CXT AND GIVE IT TIME.
IF I DO CONTINUE HOW SOON WILL I SEE THE WEIGHT GAIN TURN INTO WEIGHT LOSS.
THANK YOU,
MARISOL

Hi Marisol,

I'm obviously not Cathe, but just thought I'd share my experience with you.

I too have weight to lose (about 40lbs) and have been doing a CTX rotation for the last 4 weeks, eating very clean and drinking loads of water. After 3 weeks, I had gained 6lbs, so as you can imagine I was very upset and frustrated! I seemed to be doing everything right, and was GAINING weight!
I posted a message to Cathe asking for her advice, and she told me that when you first start working out again and using weights, your muscles retain water as they heal, which will initially make you experience a weight gain on the scales (those dratted things!!).
At the beginning of this latest week, I hopped on the scales to discover that not only had I lost those 6lbs, but also another 2 along with them. Therefore, you may be experiencing the same thing.

It sounds as if you are doing everything right and all credit to you for being consistent for the last few weeks! Personally, I would stick with the CTX programme for a few more weeks and try not to weigh yourself until the end of this 2 weeks and see what happens. Remember that muscle weighs heavier than fat, so your shape may already be changing for the better. Perhaps you could measure yourself now, and then again in 3-4 weeks so that you can see the inches coming off.

Personally, I think it's important to include weight/strength work in your rotation, as the more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn. I would aim for 30-60 minutes of cardio 4-5 times per week, and weight/strength work 2 times per week (working each body part twice per week). Make sure you have 1 or 2 complete days off each week.

I hope this helps - I'm sure Cathe will add greater words of wisdom if she has a chance to reply to your post.

Good luck!
Kaz.

Hi, Marisol! What a beautiful name. I answered you in another post and want to do so again. If you workout and watch watch your diet, you'll see results. You have to be patient with yourself. I gained 43 pounds with my 3rd and last pregnancy and it took me a long time to lose the weight. Part of that was because my third was a very fussy guy and I was sleep deprived and stressed which can make weight loss a difficult thing! Give yourself time! You gain weight over 9 months and it doesn't come off in a few weeks! Also the scale is a terrible way to track your progress. All sorts of factors affect weight flucuations including hormones. Your hormones are returning to normal but may not be at pre-pregnancy levels.

Did you have a boy or a girl? What's babies name? I love newborns! They are so precious! You are an amazing to be so focused on returning to pre-pregnant shape. You will do it! Be patient and keep working out with the amazing Cathe!

Hi Bobbi,
I actually had a girl her name is Serena Grace and how funny this was my 3rd pregnancy and also my last.
I gained 80 pounds with this pregnancy and so far(it's only been 5 weeks )I have lost 30 pounds.
I too have a fussy little one so maybe it is that I am sleep deprived but at the same token I think it'does have something to do with the weights but I will stick with it.
How did you lose all your weight and how long did it take?(I have a wedding to go to in June I'm hoping for at least half the weight to come off)
Thanks Again,
Marisol

Thank You for responding I gained 3 pounds in the last 2 weeks so maybe I will have the same success you had.
What rotation were you on?

Thirty pounds in three weeks is pretty good, Marisol. I dropped pretty steadily although I was very inconsistant about my exercise. I bought a baby jogger and had a workout I called the taking the baby for a cry workout. He hated it! I also nursed Sam for 15 months and it seems that those last 10 pounds held on until I stopped.I was happy with a pound a week and the diet is key. Gaining those three pounds may have to do with adding lean muscle mass but most of it is probably related to water flucuations. It's going to happen for you, Marisol! Be patient. Did you workout during your pregnancy and before? Those delightful number threes really do a number on the girlish figure, don't they? I'll bet she's lovely. I don't miss having a newborn in the house but I have been seeing them everywhere and oh, they are so adorable. Bless you and your little one!
