G Force Rebounder Workout with Tracy Long

FitPrime set me an email re:Tracy Long's new rebounder workout. I watched the 6:10 minute clip and was intrigued. They promote it as a low-impact workout. Does anyone out there have this or other rebounder workouts? What's your take on them? The rebounders aren't cheap so I would like some feedback on the benefits and drawbacks of both rebounder workouts and where to get a good, solid rebounder without spending a fortune. (I already have a small fortune in videos, DVDs, steps, weight equipment, BOSU, etc.)

I want to try everything, but I need to concentrate on lower-impact workouts because of knee problems which have recently been exacerbated by foot surgery on the opposite foot. (I've been favoring my bad knee and it's not a bit happy about the situation.) Right now I'm not doing any cardio workouts at all because of recuperation (except I modified some Christi Taylor workouts and sat on my stability ball throughout most of the routines a couple of times). I'm about ready to go nuts because cardio is what flips my switch so I'm trying to stay positive and look at some good alternatives that will not injure my knees. It may be a while on cardio though because I'm considering the same surgery on the left foot when my right one heals up enough. I need to have something to look forward to besides more pain and hobbling around. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

Hi!

I have this video and love it. It is low impact but not low intensity and it is fun. I have also been using my Rebounder in old Firm videos and even w Cathe videos like MIC. I use it w high impact moves and it doesn't hurt my shins or knees. However, it still keeps my heart rate up and burns a lot of calories. For me, rebounding burns 10 cal a minute. I think it is a good investment. Some people have bought cheapie models at local sports stores ($30-40). You could always buy one of these to see if you like it. I personally would invest in the better model because I think you will find you will use it a lot! I also just recently purchased Urban Rebounding Videos. Some are good and so are not so good. The ones I got were short-only 30 min. They are good to add on to a weight training day. They aren't as fun as G Force and more repeticious but you can still get a good workout.

I have this video too and the reboundair. I recommend you getting it. I went to the Charleston Fit Prime weekend and they had all different types of rebounders, including the cheap models. If you purchase the reboundair, you will like the feel of it much better than the cheaper model and I'm betting you will use it for many cardio workouts. I even enjoy putting in some good music and moving all around. If you need to start protecting your knees, this is a good choice. I don't think you will regret it.

Thanks for the input! Do you need to have cathedral ceilings when you use your rebounder? I'm 5'7 1/2" tall and have 9' ceilings--will that be a problem? Two houses back, I had a 9' ceilings and a ceiling fan in my exercise room and would hit my hand in the fan when I did step if I wasn't careful. I learned to work around it, but I get enthusiastic when I work out.:)

Actually, for rebounding, you push DOWN into the mat more than you bounce up (except for some tuck jumps, but you can modify them to be more of a leg movement than a whole body jump). YOu shouldn't bounce up more than about 6 inches.

I had a cheapie rebouncer that I got at D*ck's Sporting and though I liked using it, the bounce was so hard that it jarred my legs as some high impact. I had to stop using it. Then I got the 1/4 fold reboundair and it is much bouncier and much softer. I can do it without messing my legs up at all. The only problem I have is that it takes longer to bounce and I can't keep up with things like MIC!

I got the G Force as well. A lot of people really like the tape, but I'll probably get rid of it. I didn't think it was any less boring than the UR Challenge and I wouldn't be doing the weights part.

My cat likes to sleep on it on the really hot days...

My cats like my rebounder, too! Sometimes one will be on it, and the other will be under it, and they'll "whap" at each other!

Which rebounders do you out there have--one of the ones offered for sale on the FitPrime web site or different ones? I did a search on the 'net and came up with one that cost a bit under $500. The ones on FitPrime were much less, but they ran $200 and up. Is that what you should expect to pay for a decent one? I don't want to buy something less expensive and end up with a "cheap" piece of junk, if you get my drift.

I have a Neekak, which is similar to the Reboundair, that I bought from www.urbanrebounding.com a couple of years ago (they now sell one with their brand name on it). It seems that most high-end rebounders range between $150 and $200.
