Frustrated with chilcare issues

When you crunch the numbers, don't forget that child care costs are tax deductible. I would think that would make a significant difference.

I find it ironic that people lament the cost of child care yet claim that being a mom is the hardest job (I would think cleaning crimes scene would beat that claim but I could be wrong) in the world and should command a six figure salary. So why would one expect to pay minimum wage to someone with whom they are entrusting their children.

At the end of the day, the childcare situation in the U.S. stinks.

Well, we took the easy way out and

I stayed home with my children.

The first reason was that I would not be able to trust anyone with my child. Frankly, nobody loves your child as you do, especially not an overworked underpaid daycare provider.

The second reason was that it took a lot of stress off the family. Especially little children are a handful, nights are restless and it is easier to just stay home and ride the wave. Take pride of being a homemaker, don't let anything bring down your self-esteem and the benefit of the at-home parent will exceed the paycheck. Even schoolage children need their parent.

Unfortunately it is not so easy for people who cannot afford to live on one income or a mom who might go criminally insane being at home with the kids all day (hey, it happens ;))
