FROM THE FIRM WORK OUTS TO CATHE ANYONE

I have been doing Cathe for a few monnths and absolutely love her work outs. I am feeling stronger seeing nice definition, inch loss, no weight loss yet.

I would say I have about 23 firm work outs and really do enjoy them, but not as much since I started Cathe work outs. This morning I decided to try a firm work out to mix things up a bit, so I did firm cardio, I didn't even break a sweat or get my HR up, I even wore weighted gloves while holding light weights while doing all the steps.
This never happened before Cathe.

Should I sell all my firm tapes?, have any of you experienced this problem?, should I go back to them in a few weeks to see what happens?, I am stumped, I actually got through half the work out and took it out in disgust, I said what is the use and got ready for work.
Suggestions, comments, any help would be appreciated. I really love Cathe's personality, enthusiasim, good sense of humor, the high non stop intensity and the results I am getting. I hope it means I am building my strength and stamina and that is good, but what a waste of money. I have 7 Cathe VHS AND 4 NEW dvd's, I did get good results using the firm but maybe I am just ready for more intensity, like my favorite instructor Cathe.

Sorry this is so long, well back to work. I will check back tonight.

Thanks everyone.

Debbie;-)

Sorry, me again

I have used the firm mainly for 2 years.

I hope to hear from you all.

thanks

Debra

Yes, I went from the Firm to Cathe too - I have also been doing Cathe for a few months. I only did the Firm weight/muscle building workouts though - I never did any cardio. I couldn't go back to The Firm, it just doesn't compare! I have seen major changes in my body and have definitely gotten a whole lot stronger since I switched to Cathe. I haven't sold the Firm tapes that I have yet, but I don't have any plans to do them again, they are just collecting dust. Besides the fact that I just think Cathe's workouts are a lot more challenging, I just find them a lot more fun, and actually look forward to doing them even though they are hard!

Hi Debbie,
You might not want to get rid of all your Firms. I have done Cathe almost exclusively for 10 years. However, every once in a while if I've been sick or just feeling very unenergetic, I pull out an oldie but goodie. Or believe it or not, when I've tried to entice friends to workout, I used my old tapes to get them hooked then move them up to Cathe (I'm a Cathe pusher!) :)

Jo

Edited to add: Also, if you get an injury and need to lessen your routine, those old easier tapes come in handy! I had surgery on my foot years ago and had to start over with easier aerobic tapes and work my way back up. I was thankful then that I had them.

Hi!
I did the Firm exclusively for about 10 years and then I found Cathe! I don't think I'll ever go back. I have sold almost all my firms on the Firm ya-yas site. I tried one a couple of months ago and I was so bored and my HR never went up and I barely worked up a sweat. You may want to keep a few on days you feel tired, but I think I will order Cathe's new beginner/intermediate dvds for days like that, and get rid of the rest of my firms.
I always look forward to exercising with Cathe and I get better results!

}( Thanks, everyone I am so confused except for one thing. I love Cathe more that any work outs I have ever done. I love her weighttapes and cardio and weight tapes combined, maybe I should wait a bit and try it another day. Today was a bad day TOM and all so maybe I wasn't up to my old tough standard, hate to admit it but it is true, maybe in a month or so I will try one a gain. I was thinking of keeping the strength firms I have, but why I have so many Cathe tapes. I will close with this thank you everyone so much, AND

CATHE ROCKS WOO---HOO NOTHING BETTER THAN A GOOD CATHE WORK OUT RIGHT LADIES???.

:+ Good night everyone.

Debbie

I used to own every single Firm and loved them. I have sold every Firm except for the newer releases and I'm now selling those also. I used to keep them around to use when I needed a Cathe break. Since Cathe is coming out with beginner workouts, I don't think I'll ever use my Firms again. I tried one earlier this week and felt like I wasted my workout time.

I started with the Classics in 1987 and got excellent results. I used The Firm on and off between pregnancies and babies, then switched to Cathe 2 1/2 years ago. I pulled out one or two Firms since then but did not enjoy them one bit. I did Tough Tape a couple of months ago (an old favorite) after recovering from the flu and did not feel worked out even then! I'm trying to sell them all on the Ya Ya's because I HATE wasting my precious workout time. If I'm recovering from an illness, I ease back into Cathe by doing easier Cathe's (Step Heat, etc) or Christi Taylor for cardio, and power yoga for strength. Hang on to them for a while longer and see how you feel then.

Hi Debbie,
I did the Firm and TaeBo until three years ago when I found Cathe and I've never gone back. I still have all my videos but they are just collecting dust in my closet. Maybe you could sell all but your very favorite ones. Anyway, congratulations on your improved fitness level...doesn't it make you feel great?!:D

I still love my firms.I have worked out for 12 yrs starting with the firm. and then I thought I was "to advanced" and gave most away. But I have to eat crow because some of them kick my butt.Their leg workouts are great I like the way they skip around not doing 3 sets in a row.I love the classics esp 1-3 kick butt workouts.I lift heavy so I don't do firm upper body tapes if I do it is upper body(the classic parts) as a endurance workout it is a good arm burner. But I do alot of their leg with cardio tapes like cardio split it is a good cardio workout and if you use heavy enough wts you will feel it.Tough cardio is horrible but super cardio, power cardio and cardio burn are imo as tough as cathe. I use the classics and the all weight with cardio as leg workouts and use moderate wt for upper so I can still do heavy upper the following day.I still can't get thru classic1 without sweating buckets full and I do alot of interval workouts and it still gets me.If I were you I would hold on to them awhile you might be like me buying them back for alot more than you gave the first time around.;)

I kept mine. Shoebox in my closet. They bring back memories. I keep Vol.1, cardio burn and CAWT out though because I like those a lot. They hardly get used ...once a week maybe. But you have to give the FIRM credit for being able to give a decent workout with hardly any floor space and being able to elevate the HR ( not as high as Cathe but decent enough )without a lot of impact.
I haven't used my old faves like Super cardio and Super sculpt or the cross trainers in ages! But before the BB I did get tired of my Cathe collection. Yes, it CAN happen. But I tried running instead. I'm keeping my FIRMs just incase I need variety eventually.

HA! Same here started with the firm back in 90 I think it was. I like you keep them.. not in my closet but in a case.. where they are never used. I keep meaing to sell them but like you .. keep them for eventually ....

I have such fond memories of vol 1, vol 2. When the implants took over I just couldnt deal with it.. and alas found cathe in 99 and haven't gone back ever since!

I started doing the Firm workouts in '88 when I was living in Columbia SC in their studio and continued them by VHS after moving to another state. I started adding Cathe routines last year after getting tired of waiting for Anna Benson's new venture, Fitprime, to put the workouts on DVD.

I must say overall, I do enjoy the Cathe workouts a bit more but I still think that the heavier weight Firm workouts like Tough Tape and The Tortise are very good.

I love my cathe videos, but still find a place in my workouts for the fir, The only firms that get my heartrate up are super cardio and core cardio 1 and cardio burn. I modify anything low impact to high impact. For strength, the firms brake up the monotony. I did vol. 2 yesterday and can feel soreness. I have always liked the firms for strength but only use them for cardio on a day I am not motivated to work out. The firms always get me motivated.

I kept my Firms, well, most of then anyway.
Sometimes just to break the routine, Firms are the way to go for a week or so.
I do find I use the Classics more than any of the others.

LOL Debbie..I know what you mean. I use to work out with my Corey Everson tapes and they help me get to where I am but now I go back and I get through them and I feel like I'm wasting my time- almost like"what's the point to event do this?" I've had them for over 10 years I like variety ya know but it's too basic....there is one of her's thats ok but most are just like a warm up now. CATHY RULES!! I also used Denise Austin workout tapes and I love watching her on tv- but it's not doing anything for me. I've only been working out with Cathy for about a month and I've noticed more strength and an increased good mood..I just wish FIT TV would air different workouts- they run the same ones from her all the time...she's got a ton!!! Hopefully that will change

I was feeling that way about Super Cardio last night. I used to think that thing was so hard but now it was just "HMMMM". Plus some of it was just silly...I guess because they were just starting to try to get into more cardio at the time. I really resented doing that many plyo hops. I felt like a leaping frog. There were low impact segments that brought the HR down for too long too. I really liked Jen Carman though. She is just too cute and hyper.
I think we'll do a FIRM week or so...just to use some of these vids for a change!

I am also a former Firmie. I, like others that posted did these workouts when I was a bit tired or injured. I never enjoyed the cardio portion...way too easy. I did like alot of the lying leg work. The only ones I might do parts of are the 1st three Classic's, but honestly since getting Cathe's Intensity, CTX and Bodyblast workouts I haven't done any of the Firm's. I'll probably keep them though, unless I can give them away to friends which I have done with other videos. Cathe is by far the best I think...:)...Carole

I started with the original FIRMS long ago. They helped me lose the excess weight and got me on the good habit of exercise and developing a healthier lifestyle.

After I found Cathe, I sold some of the FIRMS that I didn't use as much and kept a few for variety - just in case. Then one day, I decided to pick out my all-time favorite FIRM tape, but didn't make it past the warm up.

So I sold all of them. I now have ZERO firm tapes. And I don't miss them at all.
