RE: From the blog...Cathe does an incline press with 30...

I am working my way up on my benching. Currently doing 12 reps with 25# DBs and 7-8 reps with 70# BB. Need to see if I can do 30# DBs. Ladies benching heavier has so many benefits. It works not only the chest, but the shoulders and the triceps too. I can tell a big difference in upper body definition since I starting going heavier.

Now, How come we can always go heavier w/ the barbell? For Chest I can do 50 pds... (only w/ a spotter though)

physics...the load is dispersed over a greater length. :)

Fewer stabilizing muscles are called into play.
The stronger side can compensate some for the weaker side.

I voted for the Zoiks option as well. I can do bench press with 20s right now, but depending on rep count, I could probably push it up. I can do a few reps with a 70 lb bb.

I voted "ZOIKS!" too. Right now, the heaviest dumbbells I own are 20 pounders but I'm looking forward to getting some heavier ones & giving it a try... when I'm all better, of course!:+ ;)

You know, I was thinking about this when I did my chest routine at the gym last night. I think it will be much more difficult using the step as an incline rather than an incline bench, b/c you have a much more stable base of support w/the bench since you're on an inclined seat in addition to having two feet planted on the ground.

Removing the centered support & just using the feet as the base will definitely make it more challenging.
