Freestanding Heavy Bag Suggestions?

I'm wanting to purchase a freestanding heavy bag to use at home for myself, my husband, and son who is taking tae kwon do. A lot of the reviews I've read on some of these talk about how much it moves around. I'm sure if DH uses it, he'll be kicking/punching pretty hard. Any suggestions for a durable, stable freestanding heavy bag? TIA!!

I recently purchased this one and it works great for me. I don't know how well it does for the big boys but for me, it's fine. :D I know my DS has used it and he's a big boy so I'll ask him how much it moves on him. I put 200 lbs of sand in the base but it holds 250 lbs.

I am so loving working with this bag. I only hope that Cathe gives us another w/o using the bag. :)

I had an old freestanding bag that would take sand but my husband thought this would be too permanent so I used water. This was not sufficient for him to use.

So now I have a 100 lb. canvas heavy bag and a floor stand. My stand is white and does not have the speed bag in the back that is shown in this picture. It is plenty solid and you can add additional weights to the weight pegs to ground it even further. You can also chain the bottom of the bag to the stand (I didn't have to). I have it situated between my treadmill and a wall and it does not move the frame at all.

I can't circle all of the way around the bag but I can move side to side just fine.

There seems to be a number of options. Consider how much you want to spend, who will be using it with you, the amount of space you have, etc.

I have the Wavemaster close to what Rhondalyn has.

I went through my old clothes (mind you I had so many) and tore them up and put them inside the drum. Once you do this you can never ever take them out again. (unless of course you can devise a way) But, I didn't want sand or water or it's mess just in case it spilled somehow. I used a broom handle or a dowel/stick to punch the clothes down as I went. Also to help from traveling, I use the same stuff you put under rugs that keep them in place. It works really well for me. I'm sure the guys are a lot tougher and stronger. My husband doesn't use it, so I don't know how it will go for the big guys.

Thanks for the info! My son's dojo has the century wavemaster xxl, which is very nice. I found a wavemaster on craigslist, but it's not the xxl. For $75 though, I might try that one. I like the idea of putting the non-slip mat underneath it!
