? For you Body For Lifers

I have a friend who is embarking upon Body For Life and asked me this question which I can't answer since I've never done it! So the question is: did you follow the rotation suggested in the book of doing upper body twice one week and lower body once and then lower body twice the next week and upper body once and only doing cardio for 20 minutes on the three alternating days (did that make sense?). If so, did you really see the expected results? She is not so concerned with the weight days, but was wondering if that was really enough cardio to see results. She has about 50lbs to lose. Appreciate any input.

Okay, here's my opinion for what it's worth. BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE WEIGHT DAYS. And don't stress the cardio. Cardio is important, but the changes she is looking for are going to come through her concentration on weight days, just make sure she learns proper form so she doesn't hurt herself. I've seen over and over metabolism and shape changes through weight training and on the flip side I've seen people doing cardio 7 days a week and seeing little changes in their body. One more thing....I've done those 20 minute cardios with a blast every five minutes and I was dying after those 20 minutes if I put everything I have into it. Have fun and hope she goes for it!!!! She can get lots of encouragement right here!!

I did BOdy- for -Life for about 3 weeks.I never stick to anything for a long time;( I get sidetracked.
I didn't follow the way they used weights.I tried it but I found that Cathe worked me harder so instead I would do just a weight tape.I didn't follow the eating plan right to a T.I did most of it but in the first week if I wanted something sweet, then I would have a little treat.
In those 3 weeks I did see results. In my pants and the scale.I think I lost 5 pounds.Just tell your friend to watch out for those dreadful cheat days. They always threw me for a loop.I found it so hard to get back on track and that is probably why I gave it up.I didn't have much to lose and I was always a healthy eater.I think that the cheat days are geared more towards people who eat like crap most of the time.I think that the plan is to make you sick from eating to much junk and then for you to realize the way you use to eat before.
But for me a cheat day should have been just a meal of my chioce,or a piece of cheesecake or something. Not a whole day filled with juck.
Best of luck to your friend. It is a great program if she can stick with it.Things like this makes me want to try it again.

I post on Lean and Strong where the hardcore BLF'ers hang out, I've noticed that a lot of them don't take an entire free day, but instead opt for a free meal.

Seems to work pretty well for them.

I did Body for life for about one month. I think it totally depends on the person. I had been exercising pretty hard for years already so for me it wasn't enough (especially the cardio). i need to do 45 min of cardio 5 days a week (I love it anyways).

I think if you are out of shape, overweight and have really bad habits it is a great plan for getting you on the right track and you will totally lose weight. Everybody is different.
