For those who had breast augmentation

I'm thinking of having breast augmentation. For those who have had it, were you able to continue chest exercises after surgery (about 2 months after it)? Did you notice that there were some exercises for the upper body (the chest, shoulders, back, biceps, triceps )that you weren't able to perform again? Is it true you can feel the implants when performing upper body exercises?

Thanks,
Christine

You can definately do ALL upper body exercises after augumentation. Sure, the chest will be the most sensitive and hardest to get the strength back in but it will happen! I only felt something funny while doing chest work in the beginning. I'd say by 6 months post it felt completely normal to do chest work.

I'm almost 4 years post-op.

Actually it depends. I'm in the minority but I can't do chest exercises after breast augmentation. I did them after my first surgery and one of my implants dropped about 1/4". So my doctor has suggested that I avoid chest exercises.

My other thought is why do them at this point? I can't lift extremely heavy because of carpal tunnel, but I don't see why I'd want to do chest exercises if everything is already firm.

I had surgery about 7mos ago. I started weights 2mos after but I had some tingling in my left breast. So I talked to my doctor and he suggested not to do any chest exercising which I did and the tingling went away. I still do all other upper body.

Ok, all info on breast implants...
Don't post if you don't agree please...

1. How bad did it hurt?
2. Did you go w/ saline or silicone? what type did you choose?
3. How long before returning to work?
4.Anyone had one break?
5.What chest exercises weren't you able to do?
6. How about step aerobics. Were you able to do them?
7. Problems afterwards?
8. Would you do it again?

Hi Anne. I can obviously only answer these questions based on my personal experience...here ya go!

>1. How bad did it hurt? On a scale from 1-10 I'd say a 5. It was not nearly as bad as I had imagined.
>2. Did you go w/ saline or silicone? what type did you
>choose? I have saline at my doc's recommendation.
>3. How long before returning to work? I was off for 10 days but this included the weekends.
>4.Anyone had one break? Knock on wood I have had NO complications at all including breaking/leakage.
>5.What chest exercises weren't you able to do? I can do them all now. For the first 4-6 weeks there was no exercise allowed at all but when I first started back with weights the chest work was difficult ofcourse.
>6. How about step aerobics. Were you able to do them? Once it was okay for me to exercise, there were no restrictions on the TYPE of exercise. I just had to start slowly.
>7. Problems afterwards? None.
>8. Would you do it again? In a freakin' hearbeat!!!
