For those who epilate

I just bought one (a Braun) and used it for the first time last night. It removed a lot of hair on my legs but I'm still pretty stubbly. I think some are too short to grab yet. But I wondered how long it would take of doing this before i had smooth legs. Do you have to use it pretty frequently at first and then less later on? Thanks for any advice! I don't want to give up on it too soon!

I have been epilating my legs since I was 18 (I am 41 now). I don't remember how often I had to do it in the beginning, but I can tell you I only have a few remaining hairs on each leg. They are so light you can only see them in direct sunlight, and then it is only when see my legs lit from the back. I have to admit I only epilate my legs about once a month now. I have to do it in bright direct sunlight or I can never find the hairs.

I also started epilating my armpits about 5 years ago. I had started electrolosiss on them, but couldn't afford to complete it. I have to say when I started on my armpits it hurt, but now I can't feel it. I do my pits about once a week. You are right that the hairs have to get a certain length before the device pulls them out. I have so few hairs left that you have to get really close to me to see that I have them even when the hairs are a week long.

If you stick with it the benefits are awesome (I haven't owned or used a razor in many, many years). I know it hurts like a dickens at first, but in a short amount of time your body gets used to it and you can't feel it.

I have epilating for years also. I do recall doing it more often at first, now once a week or so in the summer, winters maybe twice a month and like NRG the hairs are thin. I started with my armpits about the same time same results.

I too have been epilating for abouy 25 years and no longer have much hair on my legs or armpits.
I remember using a loofah(sp) to get the hairs to stand up sp that the epilator could grab them.

I have one question. I have started using the epilator on my son's back. I wash his back when i am done. I have used hydrogen peroxide and aloe yet he gets tons of bumps.I have also used the NIVEA that he uses after he shaves for sensitive skin. Any ideas what I can do so that this doesn't happen?

Jackie-- I found I always have to exfoliate before and don't apply any creams or lotions for at least an hour afterward. I had a time with my armpits and bikini area at first. Also if your epilator is old and not working correctly it can cause bumps. hth :)

Reporting back--I've used it 3 days in a row and the stubble is less and less. I guess I'm getting them as they pop out in the hair cycle. I'm going to keep with it since I can see smooth legs are in my near future--maybe in a few more days. It does sting a little but it's kind of "rewarding" to see a lot of hair with root bulbs in the Epilator. Which means it will take a while to grow back!! :). One added bonus--I think it's helping my self tanner last longer and wear off more evenly since I'm not shaving it off. Thanks for the words of wisdom ladies!!
