? For those of you who take a rest WEEK

I've read that some of you believe strongly in a rest week - say 8 weeks of working out followed my an entire week off. Though I didn't plan it I ended up taking this last week completely off - just too many things to handle, not due to injury or illness.

For those who do this, when you gear back up do you have to ease back into it? Or are you at full throttle? Eg - I did SJ&P today and I know the DOMS will be here tomorrow. Just curious.

I do this every 8-12 weeks or so and actually am needing one now! I am able to get right back into it, mostly because my body needed the rest and mentally and physically I'm ready to get back. You won't lose much, if any, gains in one week's time.

I do one every 12 weeks and when I plan it in advance. I feel great and am able to jump right back into it. I don't lose anything in a week.

I take a week off every few months when I go on vacation, have a heavy travel schedule due to work, or get sick. I find I'm stronger when I go back to my regular work outs after the break, even if I've been sick.

I take a week off, completely without guilt, about every 9-12 weeks, depending on how I'm feeling. And then I jump in full throttle.

I think it's essential to do that or you'll get burned out big time. I made the mistake of working out 39 weeks without a break, and I thought I was getting sick or that my vitamins were no longer working, until I counted the weeks!
Just Do It! :)

Hi I take rest weeks every 10 weeks or so because my body really needs them. I just jump right back into my workouts.

Hmmmm...I have never heard of this, or even thought of this before but it makes sense.
I was gone most of last week and earlier this week and I only got 1 good workout in in 7 days. When I got home yesterday, I did a workout from Imax extreme and MM and I was one sore girl today when I got up. My calves were even sore.I always feel more energetic when I take a little bit of time off.
Now, if I could only make myself do this!

I take rest weeks, but they are not planned except for when I'm on vacation. I go through times when I just don't feel up to working out, and I figure it is because my body needs a break. I normally come back stronger after a week off.

I need to have minor surgery on my ear (calcium deposits - can't hear) Anyway doctor said no strenuous exericse for a while. My question is do you change eating habits during rest week. I don't usually take rest weeks-only one day off a week from working out. I am a little nervous about not being able to work out like I'm used to.
