For those of you who have Ryka shoes...

I recently replaced my New Balance shoes with a pair of Ryka Iseums. The New Balance, I fear, were on their last legs as far as cushion and shock absorption, etc. I had heard such positive things about the Ryka's and decided to give them a try. I was able to try them on with my workout socks and they fit really well. The issue I'm having is that they seem pretty stiff and, because I have no arch in my foot to speak of, they are making my feet a little achy. I'm thinking this might clear up as they break in a bit and get some flex in them. To those who have Ryka's, did you find them a little stiff in the beginning? And how long before they loosened up a bit?

Thanks!

Sabine, I find that the Ryka cross-trainers (I think Iseum is a cross-trainer) don't work well for my feet at all. As you say, they are very stiff, and I find my foot placed in an unnatural position. Mine have not broken in enough for me to want to continue wearing them (I gave them a reasoanble time) so I'm just getting rid of them.

However, I *do* like the Ryka aerobics, running, and walking shoes very much. These are less stiff and conform to my foot shape (narrow with higher arches) much better. So, if you have a chance to try a different type of Ryka, you may find you like them better.

I bought a pair of Ryka Iseums and they are stiff and my foot falls asleep in them. I added extra arch/heel support insert to them when my heel continued to hurt(not from the new shoes but from the older pair I had been wearing waaaaayyyy tooo lonng!!). That is helping some but I find that my foot(left) will at times fall asleep in them. Because of the price I can't afford a new pair and my foot falls asleep in my New Balance Walking shoe too, so maybe my foot just doesn't like shoes,LOL:7 . I loosen the laces and wear them anyway, and wiggle my toes alot.
