how long did it take you to notcie a difference in your race pace? How many times a week did you do these workouts? I have been doing itrain workouts 1x week for about 5 weeks now and havent noticed it helping me in my 5k times. I was really hoping to drop below 26min and I have been running 4 yrs and cant seem to get below this time and it really is discouraging especially when I know people who havent ran as long as me and they are getting faster within a shorter period of time. I am like what the heck, why cant I get my times down if these people have only been running a yr or so. I do only run 3x week usually resulting in10-13 miles aweek. I was told I need to run more miles by acouple of people but I dont want to over do it because I dont want my body to expect to much exercise to maintain a certain wt. I now workout 5 days a week, run 3x and teach a bootcamp 2x week, which includes cardio, running involved here and wts. any advice? I would like to get my times down, there is another 5k race in july that I would like to PR at.

Which iTreads are you doing? There are some that are specifically geared to increasing your race times. #9 60 minutes is my fave and I credit it with helping my times immensely. It's a fast, flatter run - the biggest incline is 3% and isn't sustained for long, but there are a lot of sprints.

The work out Shelley mentioned is incredible. I also like Grace's sprinting work outs (13 and 19) and her intervals (21 and 24) for helping with speed. :)

Personally, I cannot credit any one itread for faster speeds since I am a walker, but never in a million years thought I could walk as fast as I do using the itreads!

I have a bunch of itreads but the ones I have done are #21,#13,#19 which kills me and she says on this one that it will help your longer more endurance runs get faster and I have a bunch all sprints or intervals which I thought would help with my pace but I havent noticed much difference. I just did a 5k yesterday and was hoping to PR but I am still around the same times as before. I dont have #9 though, everything but that one. The ones I have been doing are 30 minutes only.

the ones that I have been using are sprinting ones. #19 is a killer one that is suppose to make you faster, it has hill sprints and fast sprints at a pace I wouldnt usually ever make myself run. Also #21 is a sprinting one. actually the only ones I bought are all sprinting or drills that is bwhy I purchased them to hopefully get faster. I am wondering though if 1x week isnt enough to do them, maybe I should do them 2x week and see. but one would think training even once a week at a pace faster than you normally would run would help make you faster but I am not seeing this. maybe I am not meant to be a fast runner. I cant seem to get under 26 -26:42 for a 5k time. I would like to be in the 25min range .
