Hi Debbie! I need some serious help w/those straddle taps in IMAX2. Did the tape last night & my legs feel like lead!! I also feel like I'm jumping & my arms are coming very high to propel me off the floor to do the move; Cathe & crew just do these so effortlessly its driving me crazy! Am I making this move harder than it really is? How could you possibly find this move so easy? I'm definitely doing something wrong but don't know what. Please help! LOL Kathy:D

Yipeee!

My very own thread! I almost missed it as it was buried at the bottom!

Let's see Kathy~It's so hard to describe it in words. I'll try my best. First you do Power 3's, right? (Hope I have that right.) After the SECOND set of Power 3's, straddle the step and touch your RIGHT foot to the ground and VERY QUICKLY tap the RIGHT foot up on the step and back down again to start the alternating taps. Do not try to propel yourself UP! It is more of a lateral move. Your hips do get involved a bit, but not overly exaggerating. Think of jumping rope when you are kind of shuffling your hips from side-to-side. That is the closet move I can think of as far as how to move your hips. Your arms just hang at your sides alternating up & down bent at the elbows. Hmmm, not sure I helped at all. Let me know if I can TRY to help more. Good Luck~It is such a FUN move when you get it. My fav!:7

RE: Bita and Briee!

Whoo Hoo Debbie with your very own thread. LOL
That was a good explanation of Imax2's #6.
Kathy, once you get that move down, I think it will be one of your favorites on Imax2.
It took me several re-winds to figure out what Cathe was doing. I even tripped over the board and fell on my side. Fortunately my floor has lots of padding. LOL But I love #6 now.
Like Debbie, said, after that last set of three jumps (you are on your left leg) you tap your right right foot down once, very quickly and Immediately tap it on the step and as it taps the floor again your left foot is tapping the board. It is a very quick move, but I know you will get it.
To be extra safe, you might practice with the topper, unless you are suicidal like me and keep using the 8# step. }(

RE: Bita and Briee!

Hi Debbie & Wanda! Thank you both so very much for helping me. Yes this does help; I think I'm making this move much harder than its supposed to be. I'll try just using the platform first to get it down pat & then use my riser. My goodness Wanda you're one wonder woman if you use 8"!! My knees would be screaming. You go girl! Best, Kathy;-)

RE: Bita and Briee!

Okay miss "this is MY thread" I'm going to try my best to hijack it ha ha }( ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Wanda.....what do you mean your doing IMAX II on an 8 inch step, I can't fathom doing interval 6 with and 8 inch, unless of course I was suspended from a bungee cord from the ceiling (not a bad idea I might add). Even Cathe doesn't do that and there must be some disclaimer about possible death occuring whilst doing this!!! Was this a typo perhaps??

And Debbie your lucky I saw this, I've had a busy week and have hardly checked the board, but when I did, I of course, needed to check DebbieH's thread because I knew it would be REALLY EXCITING!!!! I'm calling this week my HST week off for muscle recovery although I'm not sure this is truly that week, but it sounds like a plan eh?

I'll leave now as I'm going down to retry polenta, hopefully this one will not be mush, (maybe I'll ask President Bush Sr. for his recipe :9 :9 :9 :9 ). Oravwa (spelled phonetically)

Briee (Hey Bita are you out there, Debbie has her own thread!!)

RE: Bita and Briee!

Hi Briee,
First off let me tell you that I think you are one amazing lady. Not only do you have little ones to take care of but one on the way and still doing Cathe! Wow!!! Do you see any veins yet? :D

No it wasn't a typo. I do all my step on 8". That's why when I tripped over the thing, I had further to fall. LOL I like your bungee cord idea. Hahaha.
I started out 10 or so years ago on 8" and never have lowered. I did see where someone asked Cathe if you still got a good workout with the 6" as opposed to 8". She said you did. You first had to get used to the difference in how high you had to propel, etc. but your heart rate would still be up there and you'd still get a leg workout.
I think if I did step everyday I would lower down, but I vary my workouts enough (I think) that this works for me at this stage in my life...so far. I have a unique situation that I have to work my legs very hard.

(Hi Debbie.) :)

RE: Bita and Briee!

Wanda....you are incredible, way to go girl!!!

I think I will develop the "Cathee on a bungee" idea, sounds like a safe prego workout to me, can you just imagine how heavenly the scissor lunges would be?????

Did you have to bring up the bicep vein? I'm sure it's there, but it's covered with this pesky layer of pregnancy fat....at least that's my excuse.

RE: Bita and Briee!

Briee,
If you start marketing the "Cathe on a bungee" I'll buy one. Hahaha
Not only would those dreaded scissor lunges be so 'heavenly' but #10 of Imax with those plyo jacks and tucks....
When you think about it, there would be dozens of places for you new invention. LOL

My bets are on you that your veins will show up when you lose your pregnancy weight this time. I think the lifting heavy as in rows, the bis and tris and having the right body fat ratio for you is the key.
I've been watching mine grow. It started at the wrist and now it is up to my elbow.
I'm often telling my DH.."see, look at my little vein." He thinks I'm nuts. LOL

Debbie, I'm off to do Kickboxing as per suggested.}( ;-)
