For Cathe: how much time should be spent at the gym?

Hi Cathe,

I'm pretty new around here and have been reading different posts about bulking up, slow twitching fibers and fast ones - and I've gotten pretty confused. I've been going to a gym for about six months now with pretty good results. Only lost about 15 pounds but have lost 40 inches! However, I noticed in the last two weeks when I've been doing nothing but your PS series rotation (each tape 2x/wk), I look much leaner. I'm only 5' tall so I certainly never want to add any bulk! Should I continue going to the gym?

Hi Gettingthere! Nice to hear from you. There is so much information out there that it can get confusing. But rather than get so caught up in too much detail, keep it simple and know that in order to keep getting great results you should change your weight workouts around about every 12 weeks. You should also workout each major muscle in your body about 1 to 2 times per week. In addition to your weight workouts, eat a very nutritious and low fat diet and also do cardiovascular activity at least three times per week for 30 minute sessions.

With that in mind, I will comment on your question. The reason that you got more noticeable results doing the PS series is because you simply did a new and effective workout that presented a new challenge to your muscles. This is not to say that your gym workout was less effective but rather that your body had gotten too used to that program and needed something different to stimulate a new challenge. My advice is to do the PS series for the next 6 to 10 weeks. After that you will again benefit from a new change and can do another workout series.

Good luck and let me know how you are progessing. Take Care!

Thanks so much for your quick response!

Being a webmaster (mistress?) for the last several years on sites not nearly as busy as yours, it blows my mind that you actually have time to respond to us personally, and run a business, and be a Mom!

Thanks a million!

P.S. I just ordered some of your cardio tapes as well. You're fantastic!
