For Cathe about ACL

I was wondering how long did it take for you to get back to working out after the surgery? I'm about to have a surgery done for partially torn cartilage and bone fragments. It's a b*tch when your knee hurts, right?? :p

Hi Hotspur! It's hard to answer that directly because as you go through rehab for a full ACL reconstruction (or any surgery for that matter) you experience different levels of being able to work out. In the beginning my range of motion was was limited that I broke a full sweat just taking a 5 minute walk. The goal was to eventually regain full range of motion, strength, endurance, flexibilty, and normal ability in my leg. Each week there was pain and progress. By the four month mark I was back teaching with a VERY slow and weak performance. By 9 months I was pretty close to pre-injury state (give or take some twinges in my knee)and filmed Step Max. But I would have to say that it wasn't until a little over a year that I would wake up and finally not think about my knee.

I am not familiar with the scope of your injuries, however, it is my understanding that a partial tear is a much less invasive surgery. The people that I know who have had a partial tears only had to go arthroscopic surgery and were back in "conservative" action within a month to 6 weeks. I'm hoping that you will be as lucky.

Best of luck to you! Take Care :)

Hotspur, I wish you well with your surgery. I hope you have a quick recovery.

Cathe, I just HAD to pipe in here to say how utterly impressed I am by your courage and perseverance. Every time I am reminded of the fact that you overcame such a painful injury, I simply can’t believe it. Your strength and determination is so admirable and yet ANOTHER reason why I adore you so much.

Seeing you after two pregnancies has been SUCH a motivating force in my life. I can proudly say, that because of you, I am in even BETTER shape than before I had my two boys, Nate -2.5yrs and Ben - 7mths. I can’t say it enough, but I’ll try….thank you, thank you, thank you for being such an outstanding role model. You’ve changed my life and your workouts continue to give me the energy (and sanity) to be a good mom!

Hi Angela! You are so sweet, thank you:* You are so dedicated to your workouts...great job! Please do give those beautiful boys a kiss from me. Take care!
