food question

Cathe,

I found some low-carb tortillas I really like. They are high in fiber, low in fat, cals, & carbs. They're actually made by Mission. My question is...in the indgredients, it's not made from whole wheat flour, just wheat flour it says, so in your opinion, would they still be considered a clean food, or just I just buy the whole wheat tortillas that are higher in carbs?

Thanks,

Amanda:)

Not Cathe here but figured I'd chime in with my opinnion, FWIW. :)

The whole wheat tortillas are less processed then the wheat low carb version you bought, therefore they are cleaner. IMO you should go for the regular whole wheat version. If you want to watch your carb intake then just cut back on your servings per day.

HTH!:)

That's an interesting question...

The Low Carb Tortilla probably contains more fiber and protein in it than the regular Whole Wheat Tortillas for less calories.

I guess if you are looking for a less processed food, go whole wheat tortilla. However, if you are looking for a bigger bang for your nutritional "buck" the Low Carb Tortilla would be a better choice.

For me, I'd go the LowCarb Tortilla, but eating for more protein and fiber is my goal than worrying if it was processed.

Take care, Lynn M.

I'd personally go for overall nutrition over low carbs. I highly recommend Food for Life "Ezekial" sprouted grain tortillas, which have whole sprouted grains and legumes in.

(IMO, but just me,'normally high carb' foods (breads, etc.) that one buys as 'low carb' often have questionable ingredients in, or have been too processed for overall nutrition. Instead, you might want to choose a naturally low-carb alternative, like romaine or other large lettuce leaves to use as wraps).
