Following Cathe's rotation + running

For those that run:

I want to start running and follow Cathe's rotation, i was wondering how do you incorporate both? Do you run after you do whatever Cathe has on tap that day? or do you run later in the day? I love Cathe's rotations but i also want to run and I can't figure out how to do both. I want to run at least three times per week.

Thanks everyone, have a nice day

Yvonne

ps if this question as already been asked and answered, please direct me to the proper thread- thanks again

I run after whatever strength, pilates, yoga or whatever workout I've done. For me it's easy because I'm a housewife plus I get it done and overwith if I have to put it off until later in the day I probably won't do it.

A few questions....what rotation are you thinking of doing? Do you currently run or you just starting up? what will these 3 runs consist of? Are they just 3 steady state runs, intervals?

I usually run 2 times a week (although, right now I am taking a month off) and one is usually steady state, longer distance; the other one is intervals, shorter distance.

You could start out with 2 runs along with the rotation and then slowly add another run, and maybe eliminate a cardio day from the rotation. There are many ways of doing this, but you have to figure out what your goals are for the rotation. I typically do Cathe's workout first, then run.

I hope this helps...good luck!!

Even though I am not a runner, I am a cyclist...and what has worked really well for me is 3 total body weight workouts per week, plus 2 cycling days and then maybe 1 Cathe cardio like step or Hiit (if I want to do a 6th day). For me, this has been the easiest and simplest for me way to rotate in outdoor cardio.

Best wishes.

I have been running & have done few races. I am training for 10k which is gonna be next month so my rotation is like this:
Mon: 6 miles steady run
Tues: lower body blast
Wed: 3miles speed work + BBC (upper body trisets)
Thurs: LB split + leg cardio express (Cardiosupersets)
Fri: 3 miles hill trng + CST (upper body trisets)

If I'm not on trng I do Cathe workout prior to running. Hope it helps. Jdmascio is expert when it comes to running so listen to her advice as well.

Thanks ladies for responding. Jdimascio - I am resuming running after a year lay off. Thanks for all the advice

Congrats for getting back into it. I am taking a month off..sometimes I feel I need that every once in awhile, but I continue to do Cathe cardio. I have big races coming up in May and then September, so I will pick up an extra day next year, but only keep it to 3 a week. It's what works for me, I don't like to overdo it.

Keep me posted and let me know if you have any questions..and if you decide to sign up for any races.

Hi jdimascio,

Thanks for responding. I usually try to follow Cathe's monthly rotations and run. I am following the Avon walk/run program so I run on Tues, Thurs, and Saturday. I was afraid of overtraining because for this month's rotation, Cathe had Imax 2 on tap for the first Tues in December, so i wasn't sure if i should run before or after, or do Cathe's work out in the morning then run in the afternoon. So you run after Cathe? You go girl! That actuall sounds like it would work out. i have run after a 30/30, and found i had more energy for 30/30. Take care.

Yvonne

I usually do three days of Cathe and three days running/spinning. I take Saturday off no matter what! I am finding that running 3 days a week is getting hard on my knees, so now that Cycle Max is out, i opt to do that 1 day and run 2. With the colder weather coming, I will switch to 1 day running, 1 spinning, and 1 Step workout.
