Folding boxing stand plus heavy bag versus Inflatable boxing stand

Hi Everyone,

I decided to get into heavy bag workout from home and need your advise on piece of equipment mentioned above.

I have two options:

  • Inflatable boxing stand with water or sand base. I am not very keen on this even though it's the cheapest option
  • Folding boxing stand plus bag and tethering cable

Which one are you using. I am very restricted in space and do not have a gym room at the moment :D. Folding boxing stand is the option I am keen on.

Can not wait to read your views on this.

Have a good week and king Regards,

Hi Nathalie,

I love using a heavy bag. Such a great total body workout with a huge fun factor! I do not have either of the stands you mention so I can not comment on them. Thought I would make a comment as to how awesome heavy bag workouts are and bump this thread up a bit with hopes someone with one of these stands will see this thread. :D

I have the wavemaster freestanding and it works well for me. I am only 5'2" and the size and weight of this bag is perfect for me. I am very happy with it. However, my son says it is too light for him and moves around.

Have a great day!

Hello Nathalie, Did you end up getting the Wavemaster? I'm thinking of getting the XXL but I need to be able to move it out of the way after the workout and I don't see how that's possible if it weighs 270 lbs when completely filled with either sand or water.

Hi Sherry,

No I did not. I have no space at all for Wavemaster.

I have opted for a folding boxing stand and a bag. Not now though. Planning to add beginning of 2014;)

Okay. I ended up getting a great deal on an Everlast heavy bag at my local Sport Chalet: original price $170, got it for around $83 because it was on sale, I had a coupon, and an additional 10% off on a floor model. The punching area is not as big as the wavemaster XXL but it's perfect for my needs and I was able to move it in and out of a corner even when fully filled with water: it took forever to get enough water in it to fill it and I didn't have a funnel. lol Did the Hard Strikes and Heavy Bag bonus on MMA Boxing last night one right after the other and it was so much fun. Much better than punching and kicking only air.

This is the one I got: I love how it swivels when I hit it: Everlast Omniflex Free Standing Heavy Bag (Black) http://amzn.com/B008RI1B14

Thanks Sherry for sharing.

Wow what a bargain?
Did you use the wrapping bands? How did you get on with the tabata drill?
I bet your arms will be talking to you tomorrow.:D

I used my pink 12 oz Everlast gloves: after a while my hands/knuckles began to hurt a bit, which surprised me, so I don't think the wraps would be enough. I don't have DOMS...yet! The Tabata was a lot easier than the MMA bonus for some reason...

Thanks sherry for your feedback
