Foam?

Hi all,

I have puzzle mats in my basement over rug over concrete. I want to make it more cushiony and was thinking about putting 2" foam underneath. I'm concerned about impact even with the mats and they are about 4 years old.

Anyone done this or something similar.

Thanks for your advice.

Mar:)

Mar,

I have puzzle mats over ceramic tile (which is over concrete) and what I've done is put TWO layers of the mats down. It works perfectly. I've been jumping and pounding on these mats for several years with no problems! :)

Hi Mar, Been struggling with the carpet over cement issue myself, haven't bought the puzzle mats because I thought they would keep coming apart on the carpet. How thick is your carpet? They stay put?

Thanks,
Skye

Actually, I took Jeannmarie's advice and bought another set of fatigue mats. I do have one set over the carpet that I've had for 4 years. I now have two layers and it's just wonderful - hardly any impact. They are a bit slippery in the beginning and to keep them from moving I put heavy weight plates on all sides. I highly recommend them and the more layers the better. I got a good deal at K-Mart ($17.00 for six and I bought 4 packs).

ETA - My carpet is very thin. I would not recommend a thick carpet because if the mats can't lie flat you will have problems with them coming apart. The way I have them they stay in place
