Flu shot question.

Cathlete
I want to get the flu shot today, however I still have a cold (nasel and a little chest congestion) I don't have a fever and I feel good otherwise. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks:)

I had the same situation and my doctor wanted me to wait with it until I was 100% healthy.

Yes Krisztina that's what I heard too, however I also heard that as long as there's is no fever then it's ok. The market's pharmacy is holding a clinic today, I'd rather do that then have to make an appt. and go to the docs office. Thanks for your reply.:)

I would wait. If you have a reaction to the shot, you won't know for sure if it's from the shot or from whatever else is going on in your body. That's why I refused the offer of having the pneumonia shot at the same time as my flu shot.

CDC recommendations

The CDC advises that "People who have a moderate or severe illness with a fever should wait to get vaccinated until their symptoms lessen". You can read more at:

A good source, at least in my area is the local health department, but that is probably not an option today. I find the health department is a better resource than private physicians regarding some topics, especially those concerning public health. Your area maybe different.
