Five New CIA workouts

Ciddy

Cathlete
Has anyone tried any of the five new CIA workouts? I am really wanting to try this set...the last three in particular, so I was wondering what people who have tried these think. Thanks.

:)

i just ordered the one with kimberly spreen and am anxiously awaiting. if you check videofitness.com they have reviews regarding these workouts.

I looked at this website and found nothing but incredibly dated information so I must be looking in the wrong spot (under Video News). Where are these reviews?

I have all 5, and have done the 2 earlier ones a couple of times. The Gail Gasper one is really good, not as enamored with Ann Marie Sills, but I did it again this week and it was OK. The other 3 came yesterday, so have not gotten the wrapper off yet!

There was a review on the first two, which were mailed the last week of March around that time, or early in April (you'll need to search). I agree about the Gay Gaspar and Ann Marie Sills. I'm sure you'll see reviews of the new ones soon.

dorothyrd,

If you get a chance after you've either done or previewed the three you just received would you mind giving some feedback. Those are the three I am seriously considering buying so any information you could share would be great. Thanks.:)

No problem, I may have time this weekend to at least preview them. I don't have a Bosu, and don't intend on getting one for Season's. Someone on video fitness suggested using the high step instead of a regular step on it. I will be watching that to see what I think.

I'm with you on the BOSU. There's no way I'm buying one for just one workout, so if I buy that workout I will be using my higher step. I really want that dvd more for the other workout that comes with it, but I'll definitely do both I just won't invest in the BOSU. :)

I have two of them Criss-cross Cardio and the Kimberly Spreen Cardio Camp Workout.
The criss cross cardio is kickboxing for about 45 minutes and then the last 20 minutes is doing Capoeira (spelling?) drills. The drills move slowly, there are 4 exercises that you do in a circuit 4 times. It was different than what I thought it would be, more sculpting. It said it was for advanced exercisers but I felt it was more intermediate. Some of the kickbox combos were challenging but I think because I have only done this once and barely previewed it. I kept messing up the punches I'd do a jab instead of a hook...etc. So you do punching drills then link them together and kicking drills link them together and in between she puts in a few intervals. The intervals to me were not tough say Cathe's. 8 Flying jumping jacks in a row is not that tough for me after being use to Cathe. It was a nice change of pace. I still like Cathe's KPC and Kick Max better.
The cardio Camp Workout was a combination of hi and Low aerobics with a little bootcamp and kickbox thrown in. I felt it was an intermediate workout. It kept my heart rate at a steady rate, I was sweating but not tired at the end like I would have if I had done MIC or the Imaxes. It seemed to go low impact then middle then higher impact. There is no step involved all on the floor. I think I need to do this a few times to see if I really like it or not. It's just ok my first time through. I really like her video from last year Boot camp Kick box. I always have fun doing that workout. I hope others will chime in their thoughts.
If you are looking for a challenging boot camp, Mindy Myrea's new kick butt boot camp was pretty good. Now if only CAthe gets better so we can have drill max.

That's kind of disappointing. I was hoping these workouts were going to be really tough. So Jen do you think Kimberly Spreen's Kickbox Bootcamp was tougher than the Cardio Camp workout or is it just more fun? Also, thanks for always giving so much detail in your feedback. I really appreciate your input. You helped me to decide to order Mindy's bootcamp which I can hardly wait to receive. Thanks again....and like you I am waiting with great anticipation for Cathe's Drill Max. That workout should be amazing.:D :D

Hi Ciddy!
I think I like Kimberly's boot camp because it was fun and seemed to incorporate more core work. You use the body bar and do lunges on the step and twist, also you do what she calls rainbows where the body bar is over your head and you move it side to side over your head and I could really feel it in my core. She also did what I consider "slow burpees" where you hold the body bar go down on the step in plank, do a push up and come back up. The body bar and dumb bells seemed to add a little more intensity to the work out. I did only do her new work out once, so I will be trying it again. I hope I can add more intensity into the moves to increase my heart rate and make it tougher. It wasn't a bad workout, but I was hoping for something tougher.

I am previewing videos today. the Cardio - Camp work-out looks very easy, but the instructor is likeable. I would say this is an intermediated hi-lo/kickbox work-out with a little of non-weighted leg work at the end.

I currently am watching Criss-Cross Cardio. I am really likeing this instructors style and her energy. this is all cardio kickbox, and I believe there is abs and leg work at the end. I think I will do this one tomorrow morning.

I have done the Gail Gas[er video a couple of times, and really like it, abs are easy though. The ann Marie sills video is very complex. In fact, the complexity causes the heart rate to go down and the first time I tried it, I quit in disgust. I have since done it twice more, and liked it better each time. The weight work is light, not great.

I won't have time today to preview the others. I have Junior High girls to coach in softball soon.

BTW, while previewing Criss-Cross-Cardio, DH watched in the room, looked at the TV and Said "oh, you are cheating on Cathe!"

That's funny. Even though Cathe is definitely my favorite sometimes we have to stray to add a different variety. Thanks for giving feedback about the workouts. If I have KPC, Turbo Jam, Powerstrike 1&2, etc...would you say that Criss-Cross cardio has something different to offer? Obviously I don't need another kickbox workout, but I love kickboxing so if it's something great I'll definitely get it. Thanks again. :) :)

I ended up not doing Criss cross yesterday because MIS left me with major DOMS and I just swam instead. I will try to do this sometime this week and will see how it compares to some of Cathe's kickbox.

I did the Gay Gasper workout a few times and really like it. I found it to be inter/advance though. I found the cool down to be fun and I look forward to doing it. A lot of times I skip the cool down.

OK!
I have given this workout another (Kimberly Spreen Cardio CAmp ) try. I do like it better the second time. It is very easy ...easy choreography, has some higher impact but not all that much. I guess I was disappointed the first time because I was hoping for a more interval type training and for my heart rate to go higher than it did. The workout was fun and I can see using this on lighter workout days, etc. I did do Cathe's push pull afterwards and thought I got a good workout for the day. It is definately an intermediate workout.

So most of you who have done both of Kimberly's workouts (her first CIA Bootcamp and the new one Cardio Camp). You would recommend the first one more than her latest?

Or do you like them both enough to own both?

I've got 2604---the one with Sharon Twombley & Seasun Z. I really like it. The Sharon is tough and she uses a lot of different moves. The cuing is good and she is very personable---comfortable in front of the camera.

I don't have a Bosu either and used an 8" full length step for this workout and it was plenty hard with that and I wasn't tripping over the step either. One of the background exercisers uses the regular step. I will say that the workout makes me want a Bosu, though. It looks like a lot of fun! I'm still thinking since the cheapest price I've seen is $99. At that price I'm gonna use it for more than one workout.
