Fitness items just arrived, the good and the not so good...

Just received an order from shopcathe.com, I ordered the weighted gloves, and feel they are very restrictive around my fingers when I make a fist. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to stretch the finger holes. I can use them to add 1 lb increments to weight work, but could not use them during cardio, they hurt too much.

Also, I gotta say I don't like the non-latex stretch bands at all, they are nothing like the regular bands, and don't look at all like the ones Cathe has used in current dvds. So not to waste them, I will use them for step ups and maybe the isolated one arm tricep work, but I can barely do front/lateral raises, or kickbacks with even the light ones. And they don't wrap around your hands like regular bands, something just odd with these.

However, it's not all bad, I bought the medium resistance tube, and it's very good, comfortable handle, and the over the door attachment is awesome, works great for the pulldowns that I'll be using to replace pullups in STS.

I bought the 5 lb ankle/wrist weights, they are exactly as expected, I like them, and although a bit big on the wrists, they will work out well to add weight increments for dumbbell work. I bought these and the weighted gloves with STS in mind to deal with the small weight increments throughout the program.

I also bought the weighted vest (although in a previous purchase) and it's very comfortable, a great way to add some weight to leg work. I don't workout on a treadmill, but I would think it would be great for that too.

Now, where is that Cathe pull up tower!! ;)

If I wasn't so lazy about returns, I'd return the stuff I don't like, but after the time and shipping costs, it's just not worth it.

So now, I just have to get back to workouts and use all my new stuff!! Ended up taking an unplanned rest week due to a very nasty cold.

Hi fellow shopaholic:

First of all, I hope you feel better soon! it seems that that nasty 'what ever it is' has hit hard all over the country, and you are not alone in your misery!

YEAH!!! I love shipment days!!! Sorry you don't like the bands, but agree, for the hassle you may find out someday that they will work for something, like holding the bumper of your car on or keeping the refridgerator door shut! :)

as for the weighted gloves, my hands are chubby but little, so I have the same issue... the finger holes feel tight when I make a fist, but I just try not to hold my fist so tight and that seems to help. I don't like all the flopping around of the glove when doing KB workouts though... I have had to resort to putting a wrap of athletic tape around the palm (360*'s) so that the weights don't flop... it makes for a bit of a hassle to get them on and off, but after a few sweaty workouts the sticky goes away and now just keeps them tight to the back of my hand... I find that the wrist wrap/velcro to either be too tight or too loose... I worry about the thumb hole though stretching too much though... overall they are just OK... but I have yet to find anything to replace them with, so I use them...

I bought a 10# ankle/wrist set, too... forgot that on my confession... i mean list on the other post... but haven't used them yet, but got them for the same STS reason...

I did buy the Cathe 10# weighted vest but will be taking it back because I just don't think that I can handle the non-washable fabric... Also, while I will think that 10#'s may be OK for now, I think that a higher weight adjustable weight vest that is washable will be better for me as I can't go as high on the Barbell weights for lower body due to room and shoulder issues... I haven't gotten one yet, but had my eye on one at amazon...

i'm sure I won't be able to hold out long... I'm in good company! And I am in total agreement about the Power Tower... once I have that my weight room will be complete...... ah, yeah right...

enjoy your purchases!

Hey Dani! Thanks, I'm definitely taking a turn for the better with this cold. I'm going to start back with some weight workouts, no aerobic yet. I reset up the gym in the dining room today, post thanksgiving, so at least I was moving around and lifting stuff. It was bad this week, I ate so much more than usual, but no workouts, not a good combo.

I also have the beachbody weighted gloves too, I find them very comfortable to wear when doing kickbox dvds, but they got kind of gross, not washable, but I guess none are, and they don't really weigh 1 pound each, I weighed them on my kitchen scale, they came in around 12-13 ounces. They use sand for weight, and may have slowly lost some.

Dela I'm confused: don't both the weighted and non-weighted gloves offer sizing options? I have a pair of medium non-weighted gloves that fit just fine. I've tried the small ones and had trouble getting them on/off!

Hey Amy: I think the standard non-weighted gloves come in sizes, however the weighted ones only come one size fits most... it has a size selection on the item screen but it is not really a valid option, as the description on the weighted gloves states the one size...

I haven't found any other weighted gloves that work any better so far, but without being able to try them on (ie seeing/buying over the internet) it's hard to tell... not sure size would really be an issue with these because they are palmless so the finger holes, thumb hole and wrist strap are what holds them on, for the most part... I had to use a piece of athletic tape because they flop :)

HTH,

Dela - what tubing has the over the door option? That sounds great!

Hi Shana,

All 3 Cathe resistance tubes, light, medium, and heavy come with it, I bought the medium. I don't know if the adjustable tubing comes with it, but for some reason I don't think it does.

Hi Amy,

Dani is correct the weighted gloves are "one size fits most" (that's what the box says), even though the website allows you to choose a size, I think that's a glitch. However, the fitness gloves do come in variable sizes.

Dani,

I just tried on the weighted gloves "backwards" so the the weights are in my palms, and I found that to be me MUCH more comfortable. Obviously I can only do this for cardio and not weight work. ;)

It doesn't. I bought the adjustable tubing at my local Dunham's and it didn't come with the over the door attachment:(.
