Fitness Camp?

I was watching the Biggerst Loser last night, loved the show btw, but it made me wonder if they have a fitness camp like that for anybody. I think it would be so cool to get away from the daily grind and just submerse yourself with diet and fitness info. I do read fitness books and magazines, I try to eat as clean as possible and exercise regularly but to just concentrate on fitness 100% for one week would be kind of cool. It would be neat if the "camp" had different forms of exercise classes, personal trainers, motivational speakers, clean eating cooking classes, massages, maybe some anatomy/movement classes etc. I tried googling it but didn't find much just wondered if any of you did anything like that. I'm thinking something like the Cathe Road trip (however, I've never done one so I'm not really sure) that is offered for a week at a time throughout the year.

I've been wanting to go on a fit vacation for years now, they are so expensive, usually about $2000.00 for a week all inclusive. Just go to google and type in fitness vacation....you can start by looking at this one............

I would love to go to a fitness camp. Not willing to pay that kind of money, but wouldn't it be cool to find one that just does all the basics??? Sounds like a great business opportunity too.
I also wish that more summer camps were fitness camps for kids (not fat farms) but true learning about good eating and exercise and muscles etc.

I've always wanted to do this too. Cathe's Road Trips would classify I'm sure and I've always thought about trying Charlene Pricketts Adventure trips in Banff. She hosts one in the fall and winter I think. It's on my wish list.

I actually refer to Cathe's Road Trips as "fitness camp" when I try to explain it to my friends. I've been on 3 and you learn that folks just don't understand it unless you make it simple! LOL

But I've ALWAYS wanted to do an all-fitness, all-health related vacation, but like Ellie said, I can't cough up that kind of money.

Hi, thanks for posting this link. I would love to go on a fitness vacation too. I am just a bit concerned over the thought of losing 8 - 25 lbs in a week. I am sure this would depend on the starting weight of the individual too obviously.

Has anyone ever gone on one of these vacations?

I would be more tempted to go if the focus was on excerise and proper nutrition - without the use of "cleansing shakes" or other potentially suspect miracle solutions.

Over the years, I've seen info on fitness camps by Chalene Johnson ("Turbo Jam"), Gretta somebody-or-other (who used to edit a fitness magazine, but I forget which one), and Cory Everson, for example. Some run by fitness magazines.

There are others that are more geared to nutrition and health with exercise (like Dr. Fuhrman's get-away: http://www.drfuhrman.com/events/hawks_cay_getaway.aspx ).

Some of those can be found in Vegetarian Times magazine.

A web search for "fitness retreat" comes up with over 3,000,000 results.

A search for "fitness bootcamp" comes up with more than 16,000,000 results.

Thank you all for all the good info. The xtreme boot camp sounds really neat but those cleansing shakes concern me a bit. I will keep looking, it is a lot of cash so maybe if I start saving now I can go to one in 5 years or so ;)

I'd love to do something like this! But not something like Cathe's RT--some of them have detox programs & spa services too (facials, mud baths, you know what I mean). If I was gonna do it, I'd go for the whole shebang. But then, I'm an all or nothing kind of gal. ;)
