Fitday.com

Fitday has been a huge blessing to me. As long as I put my food in it (I don't always - get lazy), I'm fine. As I plan my meals a week in advance, it's easy for me to sit down in the morning and tweak my day. But, it is an eye opener. I was using Weight Watchers online, and while it's a great way to count calories, it doesn't take anything else into consideration. I was way high on carbs, and low on protein.

I have noticed that when I AM using it, even if I get a wild hair and eat more than I should, I don't eat as much as I would without it. Last night I to my DD to Chili's and I researched every meal to figure out what I could order so that I would up my protein and keep my carbs in balance. Now, the glass of Chardonnay didn't help, but hey... it's only 120 calories...

WOW! No wonder I'm fat! I've just come across this site as well, and even though Friday night is my cheat night, I'm blown away. I'm taking in way too many calories and those are comprised of too much fat! I work out well and eat essentially clean, but I'm getting too much! UGH! Guess you don't realize until you actually see those numbers in front of you.

I love Fitday too!! I just started using it at Sarah's suggestion and went ahead and bought the software. I'm amazed still at all the information that it gives you. I look at #s/graphs/etc. at work all the time so this makes total sense to me and it is so eye-opening. I am going to start inputing the day before as well to tweak.

Happy Friday all!

I have the software and really like it. I think it is worth the extra money. They have a lot of extra features, graphs, etc. That being said, I have not touched it in about 3 weeks! Getting back to it this week! marnie

Hi Kathy!

And thank you for the offer of help :) I certainly don't mind, as I am soooo frustrated as you can probbaly tell from my boo-hoo post! First of all, let me say that I try not to be too rigid about food, as I have had ED issues in the past and so any really controlled eating program has the potential to spiral out of control. I don't follow a "clean" eating plan as some of the ladies do here: I simply am committed to eating healthy food that is as close to its natural state as possible, ninety percent of the time. So, for instance, I would rather have a small scoop of Breyer's ice cream than something from Skinny Cow, which to me has a lot of chemicals. I have also stopped eating wheat in the last few weeks, hoping that the nausea was due to that. That said, this is what I had to eat yesterday:

BREAKFAST
1 piece of spelt toast with tablespoon of all natural peanut butter
bowl of wheat free organic corn flakes with milk and handful of fresh blueberries
cup of tea

SNACK
1 slice of watermelon with 2 small wheat/gluten free cookies from an organic mix

LUNCH
2 soft boiled eggs
serving of baby tomatoes sauteed lightly in olive oil
glass of OJ mixed with seltzer

UNUSUAL SNACK
DH and I had to kill some time on the way to an event, stopped at a beach bar and had three small shrimp rolled in coconut and a glass of pineapple juice with seltzer

DINNER
Roasted chicken with a side of sliced fresh tomatoes and cukes, no dressing.
salad with romaine, sunflower seeds, raisins, onion, dressed with olive oil and white balsamic vinegar.
leftover spinach

DRINKS
I drink 90 percent bottled water. Juices mixed with seltzer a few times a week, and tea.

That's a pretty typical day except for the coconut shrimp! The breakfast is a bit atypical in that I usually just have the cereal OR the toast or a smoothie, not two. I am also getting between one and two hours of intentional exericse a day. As for the nausea/bloating, I don't know what is causing it. I have been to the doc, had more hormones done, all of it, and nothing turned up. That's part of the problem in that I feel full alot and assumed I was getting enough. The no wheat thing was helping for a while, it seemed, though I was actually sick yesterday after eating my lunch. (hence the frustration in my post!! I had just been through the ordeal!)

Anyway, if you have any thoughts I would appreciate them, as I am ready to chuck it all and head to Mickey D's.....:p

I have tons of recipes and food inputted on the web version of fitday. Does anyone know if this will transfer over if I bought the software? I wouldn't want to input all that food again.

I know nothing about the web version...but do you think it be possible to use copy/cut/paste to get the info over once you install the software? That would make for a lot less finger cramping!:)
