Fit44 - Insanity - Try it yet?

In case she doesn't see this, she posted about it on page 3 of the other thread (the thread is Just ordered Insanity, or something like that). She posted after doing one of the new workouts.

I've done the Plyo circuit sneak peak workout about 5 times. It's hard!! The drills at the end are grueling. I have to dig deep the last 4 minutes. When I'm finished I'm completely drenched. The infomercial is spot on when they say you work out in a pool of your own sweat. I can't believe how much I sweat- and I DON'T sweat easy!!!

After previewing Pure Cardio, Cardio Power & Resistance, Recovery workout. It looks like Pure cardio is going to be the toughest workout in the first month. I won't know for sure until I do them all. The recovery workout is a recovery from cardio but it has some great lower body work along with some core work.

I'm starting with the fit test this morning.:) It's a 30 minute workout in itself. You have to perform a series of exercises for a full minute/rest a minute/ record how many reps you've completed. We are suppose to perform this test every 2 weeks. Looks like a great HIIT workout! I'm going to follow up my HIIT with a 30 minute steady state (something I learned from Alwyn Cosgrove;)).
Make sure you watch the Dig Deep segment of the first disc. Shaun goes into some of the moves/form and what makes them so powerful that will allow you to build strength.

Here is what my first week will look like. I hope I survive!!!:eek::eek:

Week1:
Tue: Fit Test/30 minutes steady state cardio on elliptical
Wed: Plyometric Cardio Circuit/ 4DS chest back
Thu: Cardio Power & Resistance
Fri: Cardio Recovery/ 4DS legs
Sat: Pure Cardio / 4DS shoulders
Sun: Plyometric Cardio Circuit/ 4DS tri-bi's
Mon: Off

Fit44, I'm vicariously living through your experience while I wait for my deluxe package. Could you tell one and all whether the Insanity DVDs are chaptered in any meaningful way? Or is just "play and go" until the very end?

THANKS!!

A-Jock

I'm happy to report there is meaningful chaptering:D There is also music on/off option too!

Cynthia - I really like your first week's rotation. What a good idea to pair Insanity with 4DS. I finally got my shipping notice, so I should get it tomorrow or Thurs. Never thought I'd be this excited for torture. :)

Thanks for taking the time to share with us Cynthia.:) I can't WAIT !!!! I love how really tough cardio makes me feel (after the workout is over, of course.;) )

Cynthia,

Mine don't arrive until the 21st and I'll be out of town (and unable to use them) until the 28th, so you will be well into your rotation before I get started. I'm interested to know if you really need to add on the 4DS weight work with these or not? I was hoping there would be enough body weight work that I would be too tired to add more. Please let me know as you get further in if you think the series needs to be enhanced in this way.

Thanks,

Lauren

Looks like a great rotation, Cynthia. I guess I need to order 4DS now :D ;)

Jennifer,

4DS is worth the money!!! It has the same production quality as STS. I think it's a great program.
I did Chest/Back first thing this morning and finished off with Insanity Cardio Plyo. I love that I can lift heavy with 4DS. It's short and to the point;)

Sancho,
Just previewing the first month's workouts, I would say Insanity lacks upper body work. There is some but not enough that I would consider eliminating weight training. I may feel different after a week of completing all the workouts. I think it has great core and lower body work. My lower body is pretty sore from 2 days of Insanity.

Okay, I'll plan to do your rotation. I thought 4DS was a great choice to add to this based on the workout times. Please let me know if you change your opinion after the first week or so.

Have fun!!!!!

i got the deluxe package and it included an upper body workout. i haven't previewed it but once i do i will let you know how the upper body workout is and if it would sufficient without extra UB work.

Question for Cynthia (Fit44)

Cynthia,
I really like your idea of including the weight work from 4DS. Are you going to do the Insanity cardio first or the weights first? I'm curious in light of what the article you posted in this thread (http://www.thecathenation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=264129&highlight=cardio) said about doing weights first. I think I'll have to do weights first, as a practical matter, because I'll be too sweaty to do them after Insanity.
Thanks!

Oh yeah, I also got the deluxe package and forgot about that upper body workout. I should probably review these workouts first before I go ordering more :p

I did chest/back this morning before plyo circuit. I think it's safer to do weights first too. I don't think I could lift as heavy after insane cardio.:eek:

Hey, Cynthia,
What are you using as a warm up for the weight work?
Thanks!
