Wendy,

Loved the Barrys bootcamp rotation. What yoga are you doing?

I like how you don't do upper body 2 days in a row. I never quite understood that one.

Anyways, the yoga info would be great. Thanks for your help.

Hey Kathy.

I am not doing that rotation yet. I still have to finish the X but I created it now so that I wasn't in a panic later! LOL I have a few yoga dvds that I plan to rotate: Yoga X, Baron Baptiste Slim and Lean and a new one I just got called Budokon. Budokon is a mix of yoga and martial arts. It's split into 2 segments though so I can just do the yoga segment which is 20 mins long. The other 2 are 50 and 90 mins. I would actually like to get another one but I'm not sure which one at this point. I am actually getting rid of a Bryan Kest dvd. I'm giving it to a fellow Catheite. I don't like him. I am one of very few! LOL

I was never into yoga until P90X. I am still a beginner but I think it's pretty amazing. I can't believe how much I sweat when I do it!!! }(

Glad you liked my rotation idea.:)

I can't wait to try it myself!}(

I'm starting a Barry's Rotation and saw your rotation. It looks good. I think I'm going to do a week like that and one the way Kathryn suggested and then one the way that they do it at Barry's studio.

May I suggest a few great Yoga DVDs for you? Hope you don't mind. Eion Finn's Power Yoga for Happiness (available at Amazon.com) and Shiva Rea's Yoga Shakti (also available at Amazon or CDuniverse - even cheaper). They are both excellent and I think you'd like them.

When you're ready for more 90 min practices, might I suggest Mark Blanchard. He's really tough. www.ProgressivePoweryoga.com.

If you want to check Eion out....his website is www.vancouveryoga.com and he has some free audio downloads on his site that are great also. Although, if you're not familiar with yoga....it might be hard for you to follow an audio practice.

Good luck with your yoga practice. Yoga is an essential part of my exercise regimen ............the older I get...the more I need it.

Lora,

I almost ordered Yoga Shakti a couple of weeks ago! I will look at the other ones you mentioned as well. Thanks for the suggestions! I welcome them with open arms! :)

I, too, cannot get into Brian Kest. I second Power Yoga for happiness and Shiva Rea. I love her separate DVD's from the Yoga Shakti, Lunar and Sonar Flow and Sun Salutations.

I don't know whether to thank or curse you for this thread. I am so tempted to buy Barry's Bootcamp. I keep visiting HSN and am so tempted!!!!!

Cheryl - When in doubt, buy it!!!!!

I happen to like Bryan Kest........he does talk a lot, but sometimes I think you need it with him while he's torturing you! I recently did an audio practice of his - Slow & Deep practice that had a 10 minute hold on a forward bend........no exaggeration. He said your legs would start going numb, but to fight thru it. I never held one that long!

I tend to like a large variety of instructors. Of course, my favorite yoga instructors are Shiva, Eion & Rainbeau Mars. I do Baron Baptiste, but don't really care for him. I do a lot of instructors that I don't really like, but I find I need the variety in both my yoga practice and regular fitness regimen!

One person I do like very much is Barry from Barry's Bootcamp. He's a bit odd.....but I've always been attracted to different people with eccentric personalities. Barry pushes hard and he's tough, but he sort of has this evil laugh! I just think he's charming in a bizzare, odd way. Charismatic....I guess. I guess that's why it IS Barry's Bootcamp. I wish he led more than the 2 of the series, although the other instructors are okay, he's my favorite! It takes a great deal to get my abs sore these days........but my abs got worked from this series.......and it's not endless sets either!

"When in doubt, but it!!!!!"
Curse you!! I just visited HSN again and Barry's Bootcamp is on 2 flex payments!!! My abs need some serious work. How are the upper body workouts--as challenging as the abs???? I feel the credit card calling-----------------------

Cheryl

Yep, weights are tough too. He does tons of reps though...it's a high rep workout, but he does a lot of isometric holds and such that make it tough. I usually start with a heavier weight and end up drop setting my way thru!

I just got all geared up to start my rotation on Monday, but now my latest purchase - Speedbody just came in the mail. The brochure says if you do the routine daily for 5 days and follow the diet, they guarantee you'll lose 5 pounds in 5 days or your money back! That's a big promise. The diet doesn't look that severe either. Too bad my stove doesn't work (or too bad I don't cook). I'd love to have a cook prepare the meals for me for a week so I could try it! It even has a vegetarian option diet (which I am). That's a mighty big promise. Maybe I'll do it for 5 days before I start Barry's. I only ordered the DVDs cuz I love Gabby Reese and she's the spokesperson for the product and the guy who leads it ...Rob Forcelli is a boxing dude....so I thought it'd be interesting. It's a cardio/weight workout.

www.speedbodyworkout.com

The website really doesn't say much. It is basically 2 total body workouts, one 50 minute (the good one) and one 20 minute (with just pushups as the upper body - figure you can do it as an add on?). It also has 1 10 minute ab workout and a section going over all of the moves with the Speedball (included). I thought it was a medicine ball when I ordered it, but it is filled with air and only weighs about 1 pound. I'll try it with their ball, but I usually work my abs with 8-10 pounds....so I might try a heavier med ball.

I previewed the workouts and they are boxing rounds, rounds with the Speedball for core work, and weight segments. The 50 minute workout looks fun. I'm going to try it tomorrow.
