In case you didn't see it, I'm re-posting Lisa (sugarbean's) quote from last night:

"If there's anything worse than carbs, it's free carbs"

HOW TRUE! In light of all the office food and junk that our friends try to push on us, I thought this quote was dead-ON! LOL

OK...quick post for me. Busy day today.

Workout this morning was AWESOME! iCycle & Core, #35. It was great! It's brand new and I loved it! 35 minutes of cycling, 10 minutes of core which consisted of planks and crunches and oblique work, and 10 minutes of stretch! AWESOME workout...try it out!

Busy day: cleaning my friend's house (she pays me), then work/school, the orthodontist appt for DS and then book club meeting tonight.

Anybody a Survivor fan besides me??? I'll have to DVR it and watch it when I get home tonight!

Good morning ladies. Had a great workout this morning on the treadmill for 45 minutes. Walked at 4.0mph at 12% incline. My booty was on fire! Today is my last day of my first set of clinical rotations. I can't believe how quickly it went by. I'm excited! Now i'm 3/4 away from my graduation!!!! Yesterday i decided to go for low carbs and high protein/fat diet. I really didn't feel that good. I had no energy and my carb cravings were out of control. I didn't give in to them but i realized that this type of diet may not be for me. Hope you ladies have a good day.

Slept the whole night through again almost a week now yea!! Still need to get the eating on track (stay on top of me ;) for that one) Busy today work, trying to finish homework and still need to workout (full plate lol)

Gayle sounds like a great workout and a fun day! The book club sounds like a lot of fun!!

Kariev awesome workout! I need carbs. I was reading an article and it was talking about what type of eater are you. I realize I am a carb eater but need to add more protein but . . . have to have my carbs because it does give us good energy! :) I am going to try that walking with the incline because sometimes that keeps my heartrate up more than jogging which I know sounds weird.

Indeed Gayle your workout sounds great! I have yet to get on the CC or iTread, etc bandwagon, but maybe someday... I really need to get back on the TM but hate to compete for time with DH as that is the only exercise he does... oh well... guess it could be worse!

Kariev - no kidding NICE workout! I'v got short little legs and 4.0 is a run for me! and 12% whew... i'm tired just thinking about it! I have definately managed to increase my incline level because short of jogging, which I definately can't do with my knees, I'm just not feeling much on the TM... I think the most I have made it up to was 8% though! WTG!!!

Eriniski: sorry you are having so much trouble sleeping, but sounds like you are turning the corner! Is it environmental, anxiety, stress, thinking too much that is causing it??? I got so bad that I have to take Ambien otherwise I don't sleep more than a few hours... Alaska started the insomnia because of the constant daylight during the summer months (midnight was like early evening dusk all night) and I have to have pitch black to sleep... blackout on the windows didn't help because no AC there so you have to open the stinkin' window to circulate air... winters I hibernated with the bears and hated to even get out of bed! oh well, desert where I am now is much better but I miss the fall and spring colors!

I think most of us are challenged by our eating habits... I know for me that I am a very picky eater, therefore, have a hard time getting veggies and fruit into my daily eating routine. I buy apples/bananas/etc, they sit on the counter and attract gnats! :eek: I buy frozen veggies, but not exactly my favorites unless drenched with margerine or cheese sauce! UGH! and a body can only handle so many salads... still working to find that happy medium...

So far, so good for me today. It's my rest day, so just took the dogs for a walk this morning. For some reason though, I am always STARVING on my rest day. So I splurged and bought some apple rings at Trader Joe's to get me through the stretch between snack and lunch.

Hopefully that will help me protect myself from the dreaded free carbs! Speaking of carbs, I tried a low-carb diet once and it worked, but I was miserable on it. I also couldn't do much in terms of working out. I gotta have SOME carbs - especially fruits and veggies. But I try to keep away from pointless carbs (like cake...*sigh*) as much as I can.

Kariev, 45 min. at 4.0 on the treadmill, wow. I'd be dripping in sweat, and barely moving. Good job! Glad you are listening to your body and what you are putting into it.

Eriniski, I also still need to control my eating. Especially at night. So glad you are getting some sleep.

Deblden1, Hope to find that happy medium in eating. When you find it, please let me know.

Lisa, It sure sounds like those apples from Trader Joe's will work. At least it isn't candy or some dreadful stuff like that. LOL! You are doing great.

My Joey and I promised each other that we will cut out the peanut butter, some times kettle popcorn and fudge bars at night. Gee, maybe that's why we can't lose weight. You think?

Today is cardio, and will do The Wedding Video from Cathe. I like that one.

I did have some chocolate last night but it was counted for. :D I did Lauren Brook's 40 min Kbell w/o today. Tomorrow will be pure cardio. Either CC or iTread. I'll decide later.

We're having such a beautiful day but rain is supposed to be on it's way for tomorrow and Saturday. I really can't complain because we do need it.

Gayle, the only year I ever really kept up with survivor was the year Elizabeth Hasselhoff and KY Joe were on there. Absolutely love Lisa's quote!;) What book are you guys reading. I'm joining one in November. :D

Kariev, congrats on finishing your 1st set of clinicals! I might have missed this but what are you getting your degree in? I've tried low carb so many times knowing that it's not for me. I'm usually looking for a quick drop when I do and always fail. I think I've finally learned my lesson. This girl needs her carbs.:eek:

I don't know where you found it, but this is the last place I expected to find free cake!! Dang!

I really like that Lauren Brooks DVD. I've got more kettlebells slated for tomorrow! Friday is always a hard day for me, diet-wise...I wake up super early and always stay up just a little longer than usual...I think my willpower goes to bed before I do!! Wishing myself luck (and all of y'all as well).

Thanks for uplifting my words of carb wisdom! Nice job on the workout- you have an incredibly busy day! What book are you reading in your book club! I love to read, historical fiction and "Oprah Books" mostly. I have noticed that it is exceedingly hard to eat significant amounts of food while reading a good book :eek::rolleyes::D

See above. I am usually only successful at eating vegetables when they are disguised as something else, like veggie burgers, zucchini bread, salsa, salads with chunks of real food in them like beans, chicken, baby oranges, bacon, etc. I probably the opposite of a vegetarian in that I am grossed out by eating something that still resembles a plant, like there are still roots and dirt on it or something :confused:. We'll have to come up with ways to trick our palates. Maybe I'll eat vegetables just for ten minutes...:eek:

Hello Fellow Lisa:D:D:D, out of curiosity, were YOU able to get through grade school without having at least one if not more girls named "Lisa" in your class, such that your name became "Lisa" plus the initial of your last name? Were you ever teased about the Pauly Shore quote about "Lisa's"? Just having a flashback! I myself need/want lots of carbs, and could live on thick slabs of buttered toast alone. It sounds like you have a good plan though. I will not utter the "C" word. That rhymes with fake.:eek:

Way to go with staying with your plan! ^5^5! How do you like cardio coach? I just started doing it, and haven't dusted off my heart monitor, but have just been ballparking the levels, since I am a sweaty mess, I assume it's working. Do you have the "press play" one?

Well today, since I too wanted to drink more water, I sat down and drank 40 ounces of water so I could start out ahead. That was my workout :D. I started doing CTX Allstep, and couldn't get into it. I'll do LIS tomorrow AM. I found out my HDL is a whopping 38, so I will be eating fish and drinking wine with every meal. (2 points/glass). Went to my first WW meeting tonight, and I wasn't expecting to be so excited about it. It's a great meeting, a great group of people, and a great leader. I wasn't going to go, but I had a patient today who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer who was my age, and the thing she kept dwelling on, even after I tried to talk to her about 5 year survival rates and chemotherapy, was that she didn't want to be fat (she is going to have her thyroid removed and erroneously associates that with getting fat). I am not going down like that. And I will make sure my daughter doesn't either. Sorry to be morose and introspective, it's late and I should probably go to bed.

Cathe's dress is full with puffy short sleeves, and a long veil. She was crying and nervous, happy, very tense and just gorgeous. Her husband Johnathan is tall dark and handsome. They were real videos and I love that one. It's probably just a little less intense from her other videos. It's a great workout. 52 min. of cardio in the first section, and a full body workout in the second section.

I'm hearing a down you tonight. Hoping you are not too discouraged. WW is great. I'm so glad you met people there that you like. It sure helps with getting healthy.

I'm sorry to hear about your patient. It's got to be tough. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.

Please eat balanced meals and take your vitamins. Continue to exercise and give your beautiful daughter a hug.
