I always want to spell recipe "receipe" for some reason. I always have to correct myself.

How many of you eat fish on a regular basis? i want to start eating more, but I think i may have to go the frozen route. Who eats fish that they buy frozen, and what's your recipe for it? I don't like super "fishy" fish. They have to be mild or my stomach just turns...blah.

:)

One that is real simple - use a firm white fish like Halibut, which is also real mild in "fishy" taste - put olive oil in hot pan, add the fish with a little salt and pepper - add red onion rings and cilantro on top - a little splash of white wine and let simmer - yum! it has a really neat taste with the cilantro cooking with it. serve with rice and vegies.

There was another thread talking about the Georgr Foreman grill. iusually take a piece of salmon and grill it. You can also use swordfish and Chilean sea bass. They are all delicious!

Reese,

DH and I are big fish eaters. We love all types of fish, fishy and not fishy tasting. We buy frozen fish mostly because fresh fish is hard to get in Utah unless you catch it.;-) Any way, we always take the fillet put it in tin foil packet with olive oil and herbs. We put the tin foil packet in the oven and bake it. We have found that this method keeps the fish from drying out. Cod, tilapia and flounder also are mild fish.

Good luck!

I eat lots of salmon. I have the GF grill and usually just throw salmon or whatever and grill it. It only takes minutes. I also buy ready-to-eat salmon. It sounds scary but it's great. I order it from a place called seabear. It comes in a single serving pouch. I usually put it on a whole wheat pita and sprinkle a little bit of cheese on it and put it in the oven until the cheese melts. It's great! Salmon is a really, really good for you.

I had amazing fish during the summer. I think it was Orange Roughy with Mango salsa on top and the fish was flavored with garlic powder and papprika. It was very fresh and good.

Fish is very easy to cook, fry it, bake it, broil it, grill it, the possibilities are endless.

My current fish recipe I do a lot is to buy fresh tilapia, season it with lemon pepper (I use a LOT), and cook it in a pan with some PAM and light butter. YUM !! I love it !

If you don't like the fishy taste of salmon (I don't know if this works for other varieties of fish) you can soak it in milk. This alleviates the fishy taste, particularly with wild caught salmon.

For those of you who eat frozen fish, do you always thaw it? It takes forever to thaw in the refrigerator, can you just cook it frozen? Do you thaw in microwave? I love the idea of buying frozen fish, I've heard it's healthier and often fresher than "fresh fish" because they just freeze on the boat it right after it's caught.

I like to marinate salmon in a little bit of soy sauce, sesame oil, lemon juice, scallions, garlic and ginger. Then steam it. I also like breaded tilapia. MIL once marinated tilapia in mustard, lemon, garlic and cilantro then cooked it on the stove, very tasty.

One of my favorite ways to make fish is to wrap a fillet in foil with fresh vegetables, like zucchini, yellow squash, peppers, asparagus, etc. Sprinkle with Mrs. Dash, lemon and small pat of lite butter. Wrap it all up and bake, grill or broil until fish is flaky.
