first trimester fatigue

Hi all!

Well, anyone reading this will be one of the first to know that I am pg with my third! I'm about two weeks late and took a test yesterday, and sure enough, two pink lines appeared! I already had an OB/GYN appointment scheduled for October 5th and I called my midwife yesterday and she said as long as I'm not having any problems, I'm okay waiting to see her until then.

My question is, I am soooooooo tired and I really don't remember being this way with my first two children. Am I looking for an excuse to be lazy or is that a first trimester occurrence? I'm trying to listen to my body, but want to make sure that I'm not listening too hard! :D

TIA!
Michele

Hi Michele,

I am 11 weeks pregnant and I am just now getting over that nap time syndrome that started at about 5 weeks. YES listen to your body...it will talk to you just like it has in the past when you were not pregnant. I have not exercised at all for over a month now and I know this is not like me at all but I truly have had nausea, depression, sleepiness, and just some bad days. I am happy to report though, that I am beginning to feel alot better and am looking at my treadmill with a renewed desire to pick it up again. I am not sure if I can just jump right back in to Cathe quite yet but I can only listen to my body. I wish you the best in your pregnancy but don't feel guilty for taking it easy if you need to.

I definitely think that the tired/lazy feeling is physical and that you should rest when you can!

Congratulations - hope you have a wonderful pregnancy!

Congrats!! Yes, 1st trimester fatigue is a real phenomenom. As is 2nd, and 3rd. :D :D J/K Nothing compares to that 1st trimester, especially if you have nausea mixed in there. For the record, I took 2 naps today & am in 3rd trimester (I was only 1/2 kidding earlier). However, I definietly have more energetic days than I did in 1st trimester.
We'd love to hear from you at the Moms 2B Check-in.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! You are not making excuses. Fatigue is common in the first trimester so definitely rest when your body tells you to rest and like Yolanda said, don't feel guilty about it.

I was very, very tired during my first trimester. I have a "mental block" about saying to myself it's ok to rest though. I would still work full time, manage the entire household (plus I have a 5 yo) and get up at 4am to workout with Cathe everyday.
I'm definitely not saying to do this. There were a few times driving home from work I was seeing double I was so tired.
I still get tired, at 19 weeks. I have a big mug of coffee in the morning and a diet soda mid-afternoon.

I was absolutely most tired in the first trimester. I felt much more energetic in the second but have started to get lethargic again at this point.

I am glad to hear each pregnancy is different since I want to have a second and can not imagine being as tired as I was this time and having a toddler around!
