I was scared by the first Butts & Guts photo posted. But this new photo gave me DOMS the minute I saw it.

OMG those burn SOO much. Trust me I've done them at a Step & Weights class at the gym but they're done just a little differently. We just use a hard tension dynaband and tie them around our calves (Cathe has the picture of the gang holding the top, thats the other way you can do them) and you walk sideways down a room and back the other way sliding you other leg in but maintaining the squat position AT ALL TIMES... Thats the killer}( }(. They start of coniving, but creap up on you (and on your creaper too (butt)). Your enitre legs + butt will BURN}(. Your upper butt will burn to if you go a ways. Its a great lower body exercise!

Those sound great Adri! Do you know if they take a lot of space? I'm always concerned about that because I don't have a big room to workout.

Generally yea that exercise does take a lot of space, but you coud also do walk sideways 3 or 4 steps or however far you can, then go back the same amount of steps. You'll just have to go back and fourth a few more times but you'll still feel it}(. At the gym I go to we hve a big group exercise room so we can go back and fourth once (and die}()

One more thing Rose11, when you do this exercise, make sure you maintain the squat position like I said before, but that means keep you legs apart and bent in the postion, NEVER bring them together when you walk sideways. This takes the tension off the butt and hams. Keep that low squat postion and using your muscles to slightly bring the other leg in.

This sounds like some ancient torture ritual on a mission to find the golden dynaband. Count me in!

I saw something on the Today Show where you step to the side with a dynaband. I think the trainer had them doing 15 each way????? I can't remember. However, I have wanted to try this. "It's gonna be a good one!" Can't wait for the DVD!!!

Can these be done on carpet if you are "sliding" your leg in? Thanks!

Yes, we do them in my classes on carpet. (it is an indoor/outdoor type of carpet) We just hold both end of the bands in a bent-arm position, step on the center of the band with both feet and move sideways to one side of the room and come back. We pick our foot up just a hair and it hasn't seemed to be a problem for knees or such.

Ok, while we're on the topic of the firewalkers, am I the only person who noticed that Jai has THE BEST FREAKING ARMS AND SHOULDERS IN THE KNOWN UNIVERSE???? Sheesh. I don't know why anyone worries about "bulking" when you can look like that!

You don't accually "slide" your leg in, you lift it up like an inch then pull it in just like 2 inches. Thats all. You could do them on a carpet.
