Firewalker bands

I love my firewalker bands, but they didn't last long . . . all three ripped right in half after no more than about a dozen uses each. Anyone have the same problem. I think the nonlatex bands are not as pliable and prone to tearing.

Mine haven't ripped, but they have stretched out a lot. I realize they are just trying to accomodate those with a latex allergy, but I think latex is more durable. I have ended up purchasing the six foot latex Dynabands from Amazon and tying them around my ankles and then cutting to size. Voila! Homemade firewalker bands like in the older workouts.

Bands will last a long time as long as you don't tear them. Any kind of a sharp edge will tear a band. Risers and even the edge of a shoe can cause a tear. It only takes a very small tear to cause a band to rip all the way. In all of years of filming and rehearsals I don't think we have ever had a band fail.

My blue band has stretched out quite a bit. It is now wider than it once was and the green band has more resistance than the blue band.

My blue band just broke on me too. I was doing To The Max, the firewalker and plie jumping jacks, when it snapped. I never had a problem doing regular firewalker exercises with them and wondered if there is too much stress on them while doing jumping jack-like exercises. I was pretty disappointed since my bands aren't that old.

I've been using my blue one for at least a year and it hasn't ripped, and if it has stretched out I sure haven't noticed it.

I find this amazing! Clearly you haven't been using bands that are older and well used. I've gone through several sets of bands over the years because they all do eventually break. It's inevitable.

As far as the particular bands being discussed, I don't have them so can't comment on their longevity.

I commented on an earlier thread that the first time doing To the Max, my blue firewalker band broke. & my green one just broke doing Butts & Guts. I've learned to keep an extra set. Think I'll try the baby powder idea! Thanks for the tip!

Also - be sure to keep them out of the sun. Even indirect sunlight will degrade the bands and cause them to snap.

All three of my bands have snapped. I have never cracked or ripped them....the green one snapped doing LIS Barre. never doing anything extra strenous with them. I believe the other two snapped when attempting moves from Butts and Guts.

I don't understand why they just snap!

I recently repurchased a 2nd set of bands, at the time I pre-ordered the Xtrain series.
