Finally gave myself a dedicated workout room

MidgetDogg

Cathlete
After years and years of wishing I had a room just for exercising, where I wouldn't have to rearrange the furniture and store my weights away when I'm done... I converted the extra bedroom. Granted, the ceilings are low so I can't toss my stability ball into the air... and it's not large enough to do any of Cathe's cardio workouts, but I have my treadmill and Nordic Track in there.

I put a TV, DVD player and my Apple TV in there so I'm all set for weight works and Cardio Coach, I don't have to make my daughter stop watching iCarly while I exercise and best of all (well next to not having to put all my weights away when I'm done) is that I can close the door and keep the dogs out. They whine and lay outside until I'm done, but they'll get over it. Wish I'd done it a long time ago.

I feel so...cool.

Congratulations! Having a dedicated w/o space is awesome. :) I bought my house specifically b/c of the basement. It was unfinished at the time, but I had a vision. ;)

Do you HAVE to keep your dogs out? I actually put a large doggie bed in my basement, they both curl up there together while I'm jumping around all over the place (of course they're both about 25 lbs, if your dogs are larger maybe not an option). Don't you think they'd enjoy watching you suffer? :D

Congratulations and I am not at all jealous! Well actually I am very jealous.

I work out in my living room which is also serving as my bedroom and office until our house gets fixed up from flooding 2 years ago!

I feel your pain with the dogs! I have two large dogs (60# and 75#). I can't really keep them out of my "workout" room since it is multi-purpose right now. Most of the time they just lay on the couch or hide behind the bed but this morning they decided to get in my way while doing forward bounding on Drill Max!

Enjoy your new room!

The puggle will leave me alone during the workout, but he gets into everything trying to find something to destroy and it makes me nuts. The Aussie gets in my face, especially when I'm doing floor work. He can't stand not having my attention. And if they're together, they wrestle. The room isn't large, so I prefer they're out of it, unless I'm on the treadmill. If I'm using the treadmill, it's OK for them to come in because the puggle likes to run on it with me. He's quite good at it.

Aw, you have a puggle too? How old is he? I cannot believe he runs on the tmill w/you, that is too cute! I hear ya on the destruction--when she was younger I intentionally kept her in the basement w/me while I was exercising b/c she KNEW she could tear through the house & not get caught. She has eaten:

One (1) oriental rug
One (1) quilt & four (4) bedpillows
One (1) sofa
About a thousand rolls of toilet paper
Several oven mitts & dish towels
The list goes on & on.........

But she's my little lovebug & now that she's out of the chewing stage she's forgiven. :)

Buster is 2 1/2. If I think about all the things he's destroyed, I'll just start crying. I love him to pieces, but he will be the only puggle I ever have. He's sweet and loveable, and has the biggest personality of any dog I've ever had, but he's super smart and a big troublemaker. I wouldn't recommend the breed to anyone who doesn't thoroughly love dogs or have a good sense of humor.

I think I have a picture of him in my profile photo album.

He is absolutely adorable! He has more pug in him than my Penny. I agree about the "breed" though. Mine is more beagle than pug & if I'd known what I was in for I probably would've gone for a less destructive, less HOWLING animal. Also I got her when she was 6 mos. old & I can only guess that she was an abused puppy, she's so skittish & scared of the world outside my yard.

I still don't regret her though. I've never had a dog so sweet, she doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She was born to cuddle & love my pug & me. :)

I wonder if that's the personality type. Buster was very nervous of strangers for the longest time, but he's definitely more friendly now that he's been through obedience school. He isn't a howler, but barks ALOT, and has to smell everything. Takes him forever to go to the bathroom because he's so distracted with smelling the ground. He's extremly cuddly and loves to give hugs. He's taken to climbing up and laying on the top of my piano while I'm practicing now. He has too much influence from the cats.
