I haven't tried very many of Cathe's cardio-only workouts. The only one I've attempted so far is Fit TV's version of IMAX2. I had to rewind and try again about a million times! lol I feel like I was catching on pretty well, though. I'm confident that I will improve with time, patience and determination.
Congrats on doing KickMax! I'd love to hear more about it! I enjoy kickboxing, but haven't had much experience with it. I'm sure you get that turn figured out real soon! Afterall the mind/body challenge is part of the fun of Cathe's workouts, right.
The ya ya swap is on The Firm Ya Ya's message board - you can buy, sell, and trade videos there (not just Firm videos). If you click "Links" at the top of this page, it has a link to the website, where you can apply to join.
I love this forum and this thread is great!! :7 It's so neat to hear from all of the newbies too. I have been going back and forth on what to buy first and reading a lot. I'm thinking of the power hour with MIS and Body max, but I still have a little over a week to decide. I'm so glad everyone is so friendly and informative here
I don't know how you all can do those step routines, I wish I could, they are so tough!! I tried again after reading so many good thing about them but not really sucessful X( . I did it but I think I only got maybe 1/4 of the moves ... I kinda get lost trying to do them without twisting or falling down. I still love the stregth training, I'll bike and run for cadio until I can figure thoses steps out.
you'll figure it out... just takes practice.... I still have to "make it up" when my brain and feet won't work together.... LOL Nice to meet you Angel.
HEllo! I bought the rhytmic step on ebay and I have done it 3X so far and I still can't get the 3rd combo.. lol I just make up my own stuff cause I am so lost. Has anyone done this one? I will have to check out that sight for the high step.. I have only needed it for the lower body workouts that do the leg press.. and I have been using my kitchen chair. ;-) I have a regular step, but not the high step.
Wow, Trish, I'm impressed! How tall is that kitchen chair?
I'm also impressed that you're able to do so much of RS! I'm sure you'll get that 3rd combo soon enough. One day it will just click and you'll feel so accomplished. I've not been brave enough (so far! lol) to attempt RS. I'm starting with The Classic Vol 1 and working my way up- slowly. hehe
I'm really enjoying getting know all the newbies, too! Of course, it's wonderful to be able to dip our toes into the knowledge pool of this awesome group of fit women.
What level exerciser are you? Those w/o are pretty advanced, but I'm sure you can modify with less intensity and less weight and work your way up. I've done the Fit TV version of PH and I really like that one as an intermediate. I haven't done or even watched the others you mentioned. Let us know what you decide, ok?
Keep trying those step workouts! They are alot of fun. Which w/o do you have? Mayb you could try one of her earlier all step w/o's so you can get used to her style. That's what I'm doing. I'm buying The Classic Vol 1 today! Yippie!
Of course, biking and running are terrific cardio workouts, too!
I know what you mean about the vast knowledge of people here. Its wonderful! I have learned alot by just reading, what a great resource!!
I guess I would consider myself intermediate. I have been working out for about 10 years, basically before I could drive. I'm 23. I have done alot of weight training but more the slow gym way with my guy friends, and never had the body I wanted. I had so much fun the first time I did one of Cathe's workouts, and was thrilled when I was sore the next day. I've seen alot more results training her way and its easier to stick with. Since starting her workouts I have even learned to not dread cardio. I'm so thankful for fittv or I might have never found her.
If you have an Academy Sports and Outdoors store in your area, you can check to see if they have the high step. I'm in Tennesse and my local store carries them for $58.76. Of course I discovered this after I'd ordered mine online and had already recieved it. ;(
Thanks! REally RS isn't that hard in the first 2 combos.. L step off the side.. step knees, step kicks, mombo cha cha cha's, squats and stuff like that.. but that third combo goes way crazy..lol I just watch in disbelief..LOL I did it first on Fit TV so I knew I'd like it and then found it cheap on ebay.. along w/ a few of her older step tapes.. from 95-96 I have done those and they are much simpler.. still a great workout, but just not confusing.
My kitchen chair is just the average chair... figured it looked about the right height..lol I have the older firm tapes I was doing before I discovered Cathe and tha tis what I used for the "fanny lifter" lol It was actually DH's idea. and it worked so I just use it now for cathe workouts. All I have needed it for was the leg press.
Today on fit TV they aired Supersets and that one is a great workout! I liked how it rotated muscle groups and then came back to them. Like it did legs, then shoulders, then triceps, abs.. (something like that) then it would go back to a differnt leg exercise then a diffrent shoulder one.. and so on.. That kept me much more interested instead of doing say 3 shoulder things in a row then moving to the next part.
Yes, we have a Dick's Sporting Goods and I have seen The High Step there for that price. I would like to have one but I've went a little overboard on Cathe workouts that I can't get one right now. The only workout I have right now that uses the high step is Hardcore Extreme and I just anchor the band under my fanny lifter which works fine. I may have to get a high step if I ever get a workout where jumping on the high step is required. I have read some of the posts about the fanny lifter and this move and I don't relish the thought of my head going through the TV screen... LOL:9 Thanks for responding with the info. Nice to meet you.
If you get some of cahte's first step workouts they are a bit easier in terms of the moves, but they are still a great workout. I just got some of them on ebay for about $6 each and you can't beat that! If you look on ebay try looking for Mega Step Blast and Step MAx. I have done both of those already and they were not as hard to get the moves down. I enjoyed them because I could do the moves!
Awww, Trish I'm so glad to hear the older Cathe step workouts are good workouts without all the confusion. I need that right now! :7
When I firsted starting Firm-ing 3 or so years ago I had a make-do Fanny Lifter. I took a big solid book shelf and attached it to 2 upside-down egg crates. Back then I didn't even realize that it was 15 inches tall, until I got the real FannyLifter. }( :7
I recorded Supersets and have watched it, but I haven't done that one yet. It's so neat to have so many workouts to look forward to doing....
Wow, Angel! It's wonderful that you're so dedicated to your fitness so early in your adult life! I'm 30 now and started my journey of fitness, seriously, when I was about 25. I had to lose over 140 pounds then. I wish I wouldn't have let myself "go" until then...but I'm glad to have my health as a priority in my life now. It's an amazingly wonderful part of my life, I just can't imagine not working out now.
Indeed, thank goodness for Fit TV! And, of course, for Cathe herself.
Hi! I discovered Cathe on Fit TV and have just actually ordered her DVDs and gotten rid of my taped shows. I lost 45 pounds about 2 years ago with Weight Watchers and I am using Cathe to tone it up and keep it off.
My military husband is becoming a big fan also. He did one of my workout videos and was so surprised that it kicked his butt that he used it for his PT class the next day (don't have us arrested for copyright infringement Cathe..please).
Would be great to have a thread and get to know some folks from scratch.
Hello Kim, and welcome! Congrats on your weight loss, that's terrific!! I'm sure that your new Cathe DVDs will tone you up and keep your fitness level increasing.
