Fellow Cathe newbies/intermediates & weight lossees

Hi! I'm fairly new to this forum, and am really enjoying getting to know the "advanced" members. They are inspiring, motivating, and remind me daily that consistency and hard work DO pay off in so many ways!

But I'm wondering how many other newbies are around. Anybody out there?? I discovered Cathe on Fit TV and just watched for a couple months. *blush* I started recording a few workouts and tried a couple on for size. I loved it, but decided to complete Kathy Smith's Project:YOU before stepping up to Cathe's level. At that time I had lost 75 pounds over 2 years, and I'm currently at the 82 pounds gone mark. I've learned so much during this journey of health and wellness...I love it!

Which brings me to my next question- who else here is working on losing weight? I've got about 50- 60 more pounds to go. I'm confident that will my continued consistency, Cathe's workouts, and the motivation from this forum I'll reach my weight goal. ;-)

What about you? Us newbies should get to know each other! Maybe we can start a daily thread of somekind...anyone be interested in that??

Your fellow Catheite,
Connie :D

Hi and welcome! I just discoverd Cathe on FitTV also! I was already doing the Firm workouts for muscle work, but wowsers I love the Cathe workouts so now I am hooked! I think it is great you have lost so much weight! What an acomplishment that is! I know you can lose the rest too! If you are feeling like I do about Cathe's workouts then I know you will! She is so inspiring and her workouts are great! I don't have much more to lose, but I do want to gain muscle and lose maybe another 5-10 pounds. I would love to join ina buddy group to keep motivated and help motivate others! :) Oh and I have lost about 15lbs so far since having my DD.

Hi Trish, and thank you! :) Congrats on your weight loss and newfound dedication to your fitness thanks to FitTV and Cathe! :p

Hopefully, we'll get some more responses and see if anyone else is interested in some kind of daily thread.....

I just replied to this message, but it doesn't seem as though it went through, so here goes again......

Hi, Trish and Connie! Congrats on your weight loss! I, too, am new to Cathe. I heard of her on Collage awhile ago, but was always intimidated by the advanced label! However, after watching her on FitTV, I thought, "ooh, how fun!" I bought Basic Step & Body Fusion and High Step Circuit a few weeks ago and have been following a rotation with those videos. Well, I've only done HSC once, as I'm waiting on my High Step Topper to arrive (I attempted to do it with my Fanny Lifter, but it flopped up and cut my leg - ouch!). I've really been enjoying learning Cathe's work outs and am already thinking which one(s) to buy next.

I'm pretty happy with where I am weight wise and am mainly focusing on maintaining, but if a few lbs. happen to melt away in the process, I won't complain! ;)

Looking forward to chatting with you! :)

Hi!! I new too. I have been doing a lot of reading in the forums but not a lot of posting because everyone already seems to know everyone so well, and most of the questions I have, have already been answered somewhere. I also found cathe's workouts on fit tv. I loved her workouts and wanted more. I couldn't find the videos in any stores and after looking on ebay and being unsure of what to buy I found this site. I've been mainly trying out her work outs to get an idea of what to buy. I mainly like the weight lifting and the kick punch cruch and the core max. I'm just to clumsy and akward for the step workouts and there are still I alot I havent tried yet. I have to wait another two weeks before I can order my first video though.

Hello, and welcome!! My first Cathe DVD purchase was Basic Step + Body Fusion, too. I'm currently saving up to buy the High Step Circuit DVD. I'm getting close, and so excited about it! :)

I don't have a high step (I should probably add "yet" here, lol), so I've been using my fanny lifter too. I workout is carpeted and I haven't had any trouble using it for Cathe workouts. Maybe the HSC will be different though. Was there a particular move that gave you trouble? I'm curious.... Sorry to hear that you got injured. Yikes!

I seem to spend alot of time thinking about future Cathe purchases, too. :p I'd like Step Heat and after that Cardio & Weights/IMAX2. I'm trying to ease into the more advanced workouts, so I probably won't be ready to buy C&W/IMAX2 for another 3 months or so. It's all so fun!!

Thanks for responding, and I'm looking forward to chatting more with you too! :)

Hi Agzo, and welcome! I can relate- these forums are chock full of information and many people seem to know each other pretty well. It's always tough to get into a new group- on or offline. ;) Us Newbies will stick together and we'll blend in more and more as time goes by.

I love Cathe's weight lifting workouts, too!! Even though they are for advanced exercisers, eve beginners can use them and just modify the weight and reps if needed. I haven't tried KPC, yet, but it seems to be a favorite around here.

I've got to wait a few more days before I have enough saved up for my second Cathe DVD. I'm going to get High Step Circuit for Beginners. What workout are you planning getting first?

I'm looking forward to chatting with you more, keep posting!

Hi, I am new too, only a week. I have been reading the messages like crazy. There is so much good information out there. It is like having personal trainers at your disposal to answer questions. I have found a lot of answers to questions I have just by reading what has already been posted. I love this site. Don't be afraid of the step workouts. I started with All Step that came in my step I bought. The first time I tried to do it, I just stopped and stared at the TV with my mouth open!!! LOL.... I thought "you've got to be kidding". This is the first exposure to step that I had. LOL. But with perservance, I mastered that video and have went onto others. Hardcore Extreme is my favorite right now. I just bought KickMax and I can't wait to try it. eBay is a great place to pick up Cathe's DVDs and videos. Just watch the price and make sure you aren't paying more for them on eBay than you would from Cathe.

hello! Wowser her step workouts can be insane, but I got her step at walmart and it came w/ the basic step and that was soooo much easier and it was still hard enough, but jsut had pretty simple steps so it wasn't confusing at all. Maybe you could try that one if you wanted to try a step workout. I just got the rythmic step and there are parts I just have to make up because I can't get them, but I guess I'll learn eventually.

Connie, the Fanny Lifter flopped up and cut my leg while attempting to jump onto it for some of the moves. I got my High Step Topper the other day, now I'm just waiting to get my Club size step so I can use the risers with the Topper and do the video again! :)

LOL... I spend a lot of time thinking about more workouts I want to buy. Cathe's workouts are the biggest motivators to exercise I have ever seen. I want to do them all. I will find myself thinking.. okay, I will do Hardcore Extreme... then maybe a CoreMax session, then a StretchMax.... I wonder if I can handle some of the Timesavers with that too..... Of course, her workouts are pretty self-limiting....you have all these big ideas about what you are going to do, but after 1 1/2 hours, I am dragging myself to the shower.... but boy do I feel good!!!!

Hi Jane, and welcome! I agree, this is one awesome info-packed forum! I just love it, and I learn something new every time I log on!

Your first reaction to All Step made me laugh, because that's what I *still* think when I view or attempt any of Cathe's step workouts. LOL :p }( :7

Congrats on all you've accomplished as a Catheite! I'm looking forward to getting to know you better! Keep posting up!

Connie :D

Oh no! That's horrible!! x( I'll be extra careful when using my Fanny Lifter when I get HSC for beginners.

Hope your step arrives very soon!

Connie :D

I found my High Step at www.allaroundfitness.com. I think it's a pretty good deal at $42. I heard that other members of the forum were paying only $10 shipping on it, too. It comes with 5 risers and a Cathe video.

My advice for the most fun step workout I have (okay, okay, so I only have 2 right now, but more are on a UPS truck right now!!!) is the Low Max. It's tough but after 4 workouts or so you'll get the choreography.

Best of Luck!

LOL, I can SO relate! Cathe's workouts are so motivating, inspirational and fun it can be hard to control myself some days. :p I'm working really hard to ease into the intensity and advanced-ness, and not push myself beyond my limits but still challenge myself. It gets a bit complicated sometimes! hehe :p I'm lovin the whole experience, though!! I'm so thankful for Cathe and her workout!

Connie

Hi Connie... nice to meet you. I have enjoyed this forum so much this past week. Those step workouts still throw me the first time. Usually with a little practice, I pick up on it. There are still parts where I have to "make it up" as someone else on this thread said because my brain and my feet just won't get together on certain moves. I did KickMax for the first time last night, didn't have any problems except for one move. It was a turning move and I could not get that thing for anything, I just turned around in a circle...LOL....

Keep on posting.

Hi Amy,

I saw the thread on the High Step from allaroundfitness the other night but didn't order it. Yesterday I saw someone had posted that the $42 only was for four risers and not the topper... I went back to the site and the price for the High Step had changed to $57....not sure what this deal is.

Yesterday I found Maximum Intensity Strength on The Firm Ya Ya Swap for $5, so I'm going to buy it. In a way I'm scared to try it because it's advanced, but I've read great things about it and really want to challenge myself, so here goes! :7 I figure I can always start off with lighter weights than shown in the video.

Today I received my Club Size Step! :D Now I can start doing the High Step Circuit DVD again! That is what I'm planning on doing tomorrow (Sunday). :)

Hi Cindy...I love MIS. I was very afraid of it especially after I did Max. Intensity Cardio which kicked my butt!!! The MIS is a great workout. I've done it twice now. Have a great workout!!
