Feeling sick when working out

Cbelle

Cathlete
In the last 3-6 months when I workout I feel very nauseous or dizzy. It happens with both weights and cardio, although my weight work it almost exclusively circuit style so there is some cardio in there too. My workouts nor my eating has changed much if at all. My guess is either low blood sugar (although I eat regularly every 2-3 hrs and I eat higher protein, and complex carbs not simple ones) or overtraining and my heart rate is getting too high. Any other ideas out there and what I should do?

This happens to me too but only very rarely these days. Are you getting enough water? Is your workout room well ventilated? How long do you wait after eating before you start your workout?

If none of these apply to you, I think you should talk this over with your Doctor because it may be stomach related and it may be something that can be treated.

The room is downright cold, I wait at least 1.5 hrs after eating, and I'm not getting enough water. I'll have to work on that. But that's nothing new for me and this sick feeling is new. Thanks for the help though! And I'm making an appt with a doc in a minute.

I had that same problem recently, and it turned out that I had a life-threatening form of anemia and spent 8 weeks laid up. Please do get it checked out.
