Feeling guilty

Hi Everyone,
I was just wondering how many times a week do you all do weight work?
I have been trying to do mis 3X a week and legs also 3x a week alternating mis legs and PS legs but I feel really guilty when I only get in 2 days of weight work(I try doing both upper and lower on the same day.
So my question is in order to get maximum results does 2 or 3 times really make a difference ?
I would really like your help,
Thanks in advance
Marisol

Hi Marisol,

I just want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly.....you do MIS/SLA/MIS/SLA/MIS/SLA? Please tell me I'm wrong here, cuz that sounds like killer weight work for the legs, and I know I'd never survive a week of it!!!:) I am probably way off and misunderstanding your explanation of your workout regime, so please clarify:).

Speaking for myself, and I am very far from knowledgeable about all this, I USED to try for 3 total body strength workouts per week. Then I reduced that to practically never more than 2 total body strength workouts per week. I've found better results with twice rather than 3 times per week. I think my better results are due to really giving the muscles plenty of recovery time between work sessions.

Even just working every body part once per week, a la the CTX series, has been effective for me....more effective than working them 3 times per week.

Please do share an example of a week's worth of workouts. I betcha you've got NOTHING to be feeling guilty about!!;-)

RE: Hi Marisol,

When I have MIS in my rotations I do the tape twice per week. Next month I'm doing the CTX series working each body part twice per week. So, put aside the guilt!

RE: Hi Marisol,

Hi Debbie
Here's how my week will look like:

Mon. MIS and cardio
Tues. Cardio
Wed. MIS and Cardio
Thurs. Cardio
Fri.MIS upper body only and PSL and Cardio
I really need to focus on my lower body and I definately want maximum results I read somewhere in a fitness magazine to maxamize my benefits I needed to work each body part 3X a week
but I have also read that 2X a week will give me the same benefit I need to hear from my fellow fitness friends what works for them
Thank You
Marisol

RE: Hi Marisol,

Hi Stacy,
How have your results been with only twice a week?
Also thanks I need to hear from others about their results

RE: Hi Marisol,

I also do at most 2 full body workouts per week. I used to do three a week, but find, especially with cathe's stuff, that twice a week is perfectly fine. Cathe always stresses that recovery is as important as work--I always try to put a rest day after my leg workout(s).

RE: Hi Marisol,

Things like genetics and nutrition will play as big a part in your progress as how many times per week you strength train. Generally, hitting each muscle twice per week is plenty. Even most bodybuilders will only do each muscle twice, but they make it really count both times, that's the key. As long as you are giving your body good recovery time to rebuild in between, you're doing the workouts with enough weight to challenge you without risking injury, you're using good form and technique, you're getting enough hydration and proper nutrition, and you're doing cardio to burn bodyfat and reveal the muscles you're building...well, that's what it takes to make changes. Sounds like you're doing great. Everyone's body will, of course, respond differently to different programs but in general, you'll make terrific changes with twice per week per body part training.
