Feedback on next rotation

Dear Educated Crowd:

As many of you know, I am trying to get in better shape for my wedding in October!

I feel ready to move on from my current rotation, but could do it for another few weeks without being too bored. My goals at this point are to lose 10 more pounds and gain more definition. Although my muscles are developed, they lie underneath a layer of fat.

My current rotation includes MIS 1X per week, PH 1X per week, and mixed cardio for 3-4 hours per week. My last rotation included the PS series 1X per week, CM 1X per week, and mixed cardio approximately 3-4 hours per week.

I am open to suggestions that do not incorporate the above-mentioned strength tapes and that will meet my goals. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Linda aka Cruncholi

Hi. Just wondering if you could give us a list of your tapes so we can better help you out. Thanks!

Stacy

P.S. I got married in October too, it's a great time of year!!

HI Linda,

How did you do on those two rotations? Did you gain any definition or lose any pounds. Just curious.

I was also doing strength twice a week and cardio 3-4 hours a week and wasn't seeing much of a change, but when I tried doing PH three times a week and cardio for about 4 hours a week I really saw a difference in both weight loss and definition. I know you've already been doing PH on your current rotation, so if you're sick of it maybe you could try another endurance tape like powerbar training(never tried it but read that it is a good endurance workout). I know that three times a week seems like a lot, but I went lighter(especially when I felt tired) and just took it easy. Also adding an interval tape like IM or one of Mindy's might help out. Others might not agree with this, but it worked for me.

Good Luck to you!
Kristie

Thanks for the replies so far Stacy and Kristie! The tapes I have include:

*All of Cathe's tapes
*Tae Bo Advanced (the original one) and 8-Minute Workout
*3 Body Bar videos including the Keli Roberts, Andre Houle, and Mindy Mylrea ones
*Step Champions Workout
*Karen Voight Energy Sprint and Pure & Simple Stretch
*Abs of Steele and Buns of Steele
*Kathy Ireland Total Fitness Workout
*Abs & More with Keli Roberts
*Kathy Smith Year Round Bathing Suit Workout

I also enjoy running with my dogs. I probably run with them for 1/2 hour 2X per week and walk with them for 1/2 hour 4 evenings per week.

I saw increased muscle mass and definition on the PS rotation with no weight gain.

I have seen a 3-pound weight loss on my current endurance rotation with PH and MIS (I've also been better about my diet) and my strength seems to be maintained.

Thanks a million!

Linda

I'm familiar with most of the tapes you have listed. I'm not sure how many days a week you workout or how long each day you have to workout so this rotation is just my two cents. As a side note, I believe that effective weight loss is about 80% diet so make sure you're not underemphasizing your food choices!! I was thinking a rotation that really emphasizes endurance and intervals.....

-CTX Power Circuit cardio + CTX Chest, CTX Back
-Cardio Kicks + CTX shoulders
-CTX LLA
-MIC step or step from Body Max + CTX Bicep, CTX Tricep
-Interval Max + abs
-cardio of choice + Upper Body and abs from Body Max or a Body Bar tape

....rest day and additional abs inserted where you see fit.

If I can think of some other combinations, I'll let you know. Dont forget that pretty soon Kathy S will be emailing volume 4 of her rotation compilation. Also, I just previewed Mindy's Slammmin Sports Cardio...it looks awesome!!

:) Stacy

P.S. Do you have Keli Roberts' NEW body bar tape?? If so, how does it compare to Cathe?? I was thinking of purchasing it. Thanks!

Hi Stacy,

Thanks for the endurance/interval rotation! Intervals are especially difficult for me, so that is probably just what I need. (I keep telling myself IMax is my friend, but it sure wipes me out).

Am I correct that there would be one lower body weighted workout per week with CTX LLA in your rotation? I can't remember if CTX Power Circuit has weighted legs in it? If not, I may add one extra day of legs, like on the 6th day, just do all of Body Max.

Yes, I have the New Body Bar Workout (Body Bar Challenge) with Keli Roberts. It is pretty good overall. Keli hits all of the major muscle groups in one hour. However, the legs are not too challenging since you just use your Body Bar (mine is 18 pounds) and there are not thousands of reps. I substitute my barbell for the standing leg exercises. There are floor leg exercises (inner and outer thighs) that you don't need any more weight than a Body Bar for. On the other hand, Keli does some exercises, like these wierd bent over, one-arm rows where she puts her elbow out to the side that I can't lift 18-lbs on. I have to substitute a lighter dumbbell.

I generally like Cathe's total body strength videos like MIS, PH and Body Max better than Keli's New Body Bar Workout. Cathe's are more versatile since you use various weighted dumbells and barbells. The Body Bar, while a great invention (love it for floor legs, bis, tris, and shoulders), is simply not THE best weighted tool for ALL exercises!

I have used Keli's video for a third, very light, strength day in rotations before. It is great for that purpose. However, I think you could use one of your other total body strength videos for the same purpose, and just go lighter.

I hope that helps you to decide whether or not to buy it! I will check out Mindy's Slammin' Sports.

Cheers!\

Hi! Thanks for the info on the body bar video, maybe I'll wait on ordering it. I have CIA's Power Bar Training and it rates right up there with any of Cathe's strength tapes as a great workout, but I'm also looking for another tape to add for variety. I'll just make do with what I have. Yes, Power Circuit does have leg circuits so you'd be getting in 2 leg workouts, but PC's arent as tough as LLA obviously. I thought I'd maybe give your legs a break since I put Inteval Max in the rotation plus you said you were a runner. It's so easy for me to put Interval Max into someone else's workout rotation than my own!! I dread it too, lol. Sometimes I'll use it for 2 short cardio workouts and split it up into 2 sets of 5 intervals. How are the wedding plans going?? I remember it rained every day the week of my wedding but the morning of my wedding the skies were blue and the sun was shining, but there were snow flurries in October!! But, that ended up working out fine because we got married in a green house complete with palm trees and fountains and if it had been a hot day, that place would have heated up very quickly (we got married at 10:30am)! Good luck on your wedding planning and fitness goals!!

:)Stacy

I think I've decided on my next rotation thanks to Stacy and Kristie's help! Here it is:

* CTX Power Circuit & CTX Back & Chest
* Cardio Kicks or Tae Bo & CTX Shoulders
* CTX LL
* CTX 10-10-10 & CTX Tri & Bi
* IMax & one section from Abs & More (or abs on my own)
* Run 1/2 hour & Body Max upper body
* walk/stretch/rest

I'm wishing I had DVDs instead of VHS tapes. I better make sure I'm forwarded to the correct place the night before.

Each evening my goal is to fast walk with the dogs for 1/2 hour also. I think this will help incorporate Kristie's idea of more cardio time per week to help with fat loss.

Maybe next rotation I'll try Kristie's suggestion of strength training each body part 3X per week. I just don't think it is feasible with this rotation due to my lack of time in the mornings when I workout. In fact, this rotation where it goes over an hour per session might cause a problem if I hit "snooze" at all!

Thanks again for your time and input!

Linda

Hi Linda,

Hope this next rotation goes good! Hey if you or anyone else is interested in Slammin Sports Cardio, I have one to trade or sell. I just bought it from Mindy but it's just not my style. Let me know if you're interested!

BYE,
Kristie

Kristie,
I checked out the Slammin Sports Cardio on the web earlier. Thanks for the offer, but I decided that I am not interested in it based on the description because I don't think it can offer me anything that I don't already have in my video library. Maybe Stacy is interested?? Thanks again for the offer!
Linda

Thanks, but I just bought it. I do however have Christi's Still Jumpin, and Kristin Kagan's Step This Way that I'm willing to trade for something, just dont know what yet!! I'm always looking for intense, athletic cardio and fun, intense strength tapes. I have all of Cathe's, some KV, some CIA, Powerstrike and a few Charlene Prickett.

Any offers???

:)Stacy
