Favorite NON-Cathe Workouts??

I love Cathe but everybody needs a change from time to time. What are YOUR favorite non-Cathe workouts and why??

Thanks!

*creeps into thread, looking around furtively*

Non-Cathe workouts? I don't know what you mean.

But *ahem*, I've HEARD that the Powerstrikes (I & II) are awesome! And if I liked them, it would be because they are more like true kickboxing workouts. There's no fancy cardio sections, just LOTS of punching and kicking and it's conceivable that IF I did them, I would get DOMS in my lats;)

You never saw me in this thread.;)

I love Mindy Mylrea's workouts...her new Bootcamp workout is so great. I also love my Turbo Jam workouts. The new maximum results package is fantastic. I have several CIA workouts that I really enjoy as well.:)

I can't believe I forgot the Powerstrike workouts. I have 1 & 2 and I can't say enough good things about them. They are amazing.:D

Shelley,
your post cracked me up:) I would say my fave non-cathe workouts would be Tae Bo get ripped, powerstrike millenium 2, all my yoga dvd's, especially Bryan Kest and Baron Baptise, and a few of the firms. But, I almost always reach for Cathe these days.

I love all the powerstrike videos I , II, and III. I also like Janis Saffel 's kickboxing, Mindy Mylrea's new one and I like the Pro Series Bosu workouts. I also like some of the TLT's that came out a few months back. But I can never go more than 2 days with out doing some kind of Cathe.

I dig Keli Roberts, Kimberly Spreen, Tracie Long, and the old Firms. I'm going to give that Bento chick a try on my DVD player too. I also do Jazzercise when I prefer to workout with other cool and empowered chicks.

Anything by Christi Taylor! I do love her step and hi-lo workouts. She leaves me dripping with sweat, and that's the way I like it.

The production quality on the Powerstrikes is absolutely abysmal. The sound is poor, the picture isn't great. But they're so good, I'm completely willing to overlook it. I mean.... if I ever TRIED them, I'm sure they'd be so good, I'd overlook it:p

Christi Taylor: Totally Cool Step, Step Heaven, Solid Gold Step. High fun factor/sweat factor. Music is great!

Mindy Mylrea: Awesome Intervals, Cardio Toolbox
Athletic moves, easy choreo yet good intensity.

This one I'm having fun with right now (just delivered to me last week): Turbo Jam Maximum Results. Good fun factor and you can adjust the music volume. The music is great. IMHO, the production quality is the best I've seen.

Charlene Prickett: Crazy for Step. 70 minutes on a 10" step with no breaks. Need I say more? My name for this is 'Step Insanity'. This one is my current world record holder for calories burned per my HRM.

P90X: best upper body workouts I've seen on video. Great rotation. Effecitive core work. Effficient use of time and effective use of recovery. Incorporates functional and traditional training.

P90 Masters (all but "core cardio"): similar to some P90X workouts. Very athletic. Time-efficient and effective.

TLT's (Particularly Jen Carman and Susan Harris workouts).

Functional fitness at its best.

Gin Miller, INtense Moves. Athletic interval step work. Straightforward. Great instructor.

Mindy Mylrea's workouts: very functional. Uses medicine ball in a very fun way.

Powerstrike: I love authentic-feeling kickboxing, and their form is wonderful.

Eionn Finn's "Power Yoga for Happiness," particularly "Magically Hips." Wonderful stretch and strengthning workout. Well led. Excellent form pointers and many options shown for different levels.

Slim Series. Good for days when I just don't feel like working out. They don't seem that tough, but the cumulative effect of the continuous movement can be felt the next day. "Firm it Up," a lower body only workout, is my favorite. "Cool it off" is a good stretch, stabilizing workout.

Firm BSS IV. The Transfirmer is one piece of equipment they got right. The incline lunges and step on the incline really work the 'thutt" area. The cardio is simple, and the variety of moves is great for days when I have exercise ADD.

YOu should have seen the orginal Powerstrikes (some of which I have). The first one makes me nauseated if I look at the screen too much. I think somebody's little brother got an old-fashioned movie camera (one without some kind of stabilization control) and wanted to try it out. BUT, the workout is fabulous! I wouldn't tolerate that bad production quality from many other workouts.

I echo the P90X series! I LOVE it! I just love the way it makes me feel when I done!

TLT's

PowerStrikes (1 and 2 - not 3).

Cardio Coach for running/Spinning Elliptical...

I don't have a favorite NON-Cathe work out. Come to think of it, I don't have a favorite Cathe work out. :p :7

Heck, I really don't like to work out. Okay, I'm leaving now:p

I like Yoga Zone for yoga, and I have some Winsor Pilates too, but can't say that they are favorites. My fav cardio non-Cathe WOs are Tae Bo, especially the old Impact (uses a heavy bag) and the Get Ripped series. For newer Tae Bo the Fat Blaster series is my fav.
