Fatloss Check In April 2013

Fembot40

Cathlete
Good morning ladies! Yay, it's April. I heard the first peepers yesterday. We dusted off the nice bikes yesterday and had the best bike ride so far this year. What a difference between the old bikes and the newer ones. Climbing is so much easier and we're much faster on the better bikes. I'm going to focus on cycling as much as possible until vacation. For weight work, I'll be doing STS Meso 1, week 4 for this week.

Sue, glad to hear you're feeling better. Way to jump back on the fitness track!

Candice, I also started my fitness journey with The Firm workouts, but that was back in 1986. I didn't discover Cathe until 1994. I think this is a natural progression for most people on these forums. My first Cathe was Body Max and it near killed me to master it. Your fitness and nutrition goals seem very grounded. Love the sounds of all the hiking you get to do. What kind of dogs do you have?

Hi to Shereta and Addie! : )

Hi fembot - congrats on the bike rides! I'm jealous.. I want to start doing some spin so I can use Cathe's DVDs and I also want to buy a bike for more leisure riding outdoors.

I messed up on taking my vitamins yesterday :( I can't take the multi without food bc it will make me nauseous. I forgot to take it in the AM and then was gone all day and so tired and full by the time I got home that I just couldn't bear to ingest anything else. :/ but today is a new day! I brought my journal to work again (I also forgot to journal yesterday but thankfully I was able to still log everything this morning) and am back on track.

I took a rest day yesterday. Today is my last week of Part 2 of the Beginners Rotation. I'm glad. I'm not loving this schedule that much but I am SUPER excited to start next weeks rotation. It has some solid workouts!

Oh, And our doggies are a mutt name Lucy (I think she looks like an Australian Shepard mix but IDK) and a very lazy black Pitbull. He thinks he weight 2 pounds. He tries to sit/lay on my lap while I'm driving haha! I'm actually NOT a dog person but they came w/ the BF and I've grown to love them (esp. DD, the Pitbull)

Tina, so nice to hear you were able to get a great ride in! Cooped up no more :). Candice I'm glad your journalling is going well. You'll be out of the beginner rotation before you know it, congrats on sticking with it!

Rest day for me. I only slept 2 hours last night (pulled a work almost-allnighter), I just don't have a workout in me. I did take a walk during lunch though.

He Shereta & Addie :)

Sue - good for you for listening to your body! :) I have really gotten to know the importance of that over the last 3 months.

I'm checking in w/ Body Fusion! I raised my step height which resulted in me having to take some extra marching breaks as well as skip weights on a few of the sections but I went into the workout w/ the goal of making it very cardio intense (haven't been challenging myself cardiovascular-ly lately! last week I took it easy with a low step height).

Also I'm bummed, I forgot my journal at work. :( I was looking forward to writing in it tonight. Oh well. I made sure to put on my phones notepad what I ate tonight.

This morning was 40/20 and this evening was a bike ride with DH. I think it was the coldest bike ride we've had all year, the wind chill was wicked! I picked the wrong day to forget my shoe covers, burrrr!

DD was so proud of herself, she was able to complete 30/30 for the first time. She's been doing Slide and Glide for the past few weeks and worked her way up to Hiit. Another blossoming Cathelete! :D

Sue, I hope you caught back up on your sleep. Doesn't it seem to take days to catch back up?

Candice, have you tried My Fitness Pal for food journaling? The phone app is really easy to use once you get all your goals set up and it's free.

Hi to Addie and Shereta! : )

Tina

Nice job Candice on raising your step :). If your journal isn't available you can always write down your thoughts on loose leaf and tape them onto journal pages later. Not the prettiest solution but it works in a pinch.

Tina what are shoe covers? Your daughter is right to be proud of herself. 30/30 is a tough workout! She's gonna be just like her mamma - a workout queen! :). Yes, sleep is hard to catch up on! Whenever I get too little I'm amazed at how little sleep I used to get when I was younger. I wish I could still have that stamina.

Hi Shereta & Addie! What are you guys up to?

Hey, yall. returned from trip on Monday. Worked out on Tuesday - Afterburn. no workout today. Hope to workout tomorrow. Headed out of town on Friday. FIL passed on Sunday, Funeral on Saturday. :(

Shereta my condolences on the loss of your FIL. I hope he had a long, wonderful life :).

No workout for me today. I feel like crud. Tomorrow will be super cuts, that'll zap me back into things :)

Hi Tina & Addie, I hope you both had great days :)

Shereta, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I'll be thinking of you this weekend. :(

Today was M1D12. I originally planned plyo legs, but didn't feel like doing high impact this morning.

Sue, shoe covers are booties with cutouts on the bottoms, that slip over cycle shoes. I have a really warm pair that, when remembered, prevent frost bite. I've been pulling some doosies lately... I swear my feet are still cold from yesterday. Tomorrow is the last day of Meso 1, and the last STS workout until May. I'm really looking forward to doing the 3 1/2 month program. I hope you're still up for it. No worries if you're not though.

Hi to Candice and Addie. : )

Tina

no workout for me again today, my work days have been so long, this is a good reason why I should be working out in the morning instead of evening. but every morning I have to motivate myself just to get out of bed. I was a morning person for a short period a few years ago, not sure what happened to break me of that. oh well, I'll get back on the horse one of these days.

Tina I'm definitely ready for STS next month. I just may substitute or skip some leg exercises if my knees give me a hard time.

Waves to Shereta, Candice & Addie :)

I had my days mixed up. Yesterday was KPC and today is my last day of Meso 1. The leg workout I did on Wednesday gave me the worst case of DOMS I've had in awhile. I had to skip out on last nights bike ride. We're hoping for our first long ride on Sunday.

I'm going to start back at MFP for food logging. The thoughts of getting into a bathing suit are giving me nightmares.

I hope you all have a great weekend. : )

Hi girls,

I've been a little AWOL! I took the last 2 days off from working out. My right knee was really bothering me, I think it's b/c I did step too many days in a row (3) and I have knee problems on that darn right knee!

Tonight is a 40 min walk + a segment from Total Body Stretching but I may do a longer yoga workout instead. I feel like I need it.

I had a pretty great week though, I'm in a new department at work and in addition to being able to get a standing desk, I found that I am walking pretty much all day long which is great. I don't feel like I'm getting "secretary butt" haha.

My food choices this week have been poor, but the good thing is that I have found myself really listening in to my body about whether or not I'm full. I've eaten anything I wanted all week, but when I was full or no longer wanted it, or it just didn't taste that good, I stopped eating it.

I also realized i don't like taking supplements. IDK what it is, but they don't seem to sit well with me. So I decided to stop taking them.

*wave to all the girls* hope you have a good weekend!

Hi Ladies :)

Shereta you're on my mind, I hope this weekend is going as well as it can under the circumstances.

Candice I can relate on the knee issue, my left one barks sometimes. I don't know how I feel about supplements. I'd like to get all my nutrients from food but since I've been logging on MFP I see that I fall short, usually on iron.

Tina I don't envy you getting into a bathing suit soon :)

Today just about the only thing I did right was getting at least 8 glasses of water. "tomorrow I will do better" - that's my end of day mantra.

TTFN :)

Hi girls :)

Checking in w/ a 70 minute full-body weights + cardio premix from Low Impact Step. It was the longest workout I've ever done. I struggled a tad w/ the moves because it was the first time I'd ever done the DVD - I went in blind - but I am so proud of myself because I really picked up the moves quickly. I think my coordination is improving (if that is even possible).

On the menu the rest of the day is a trip to the Nike outlet for some new workout gear (I've been working out consistently for over four months! Time to get some new digs!) and then reading The Four-Day Win by martha beck. It's about the psychological aspect of fitness, health, weightloss, etc. Kind of like the Beck Diet Solution (but I don't think the two Becks are related..?)

Shereta - I hope all is going well for you and your family now in this time

Sue - just keep doing something positive for yourself each day and don't focus on the negatives :) You drank your water, that is great! You could have slurped down a whole 12 pack of Coke! But you didn't.

Checking in w/ a rest day... I woke up this morning with a wisdom tooth in the place of where there was just gums yesterday!! It is annoying and very painful. Bleh.

If I feel like it, I might do a 30 min yoga premix. We'll see. Hope you girls have a good Sunday!

hi ladies! I got off my a$$ today and finally did a workout :). decided to ditch the xtrain rotation and come up with my own... xtrain rotation. I don't have a lot of time to workout right now so I chose almost all 30 minute premixes. legs will be 48 minutes I think. today was chest, shoulders, back.

Nice job on that 70 minute workout Candice! Other than your tooth how are you feeling today?

Have a great week :)

We didn't get the long bike ride in that we were hoping for. Saturday was like riding in a wind tunnel and cold to boot and today we had time issues. Hopefully we can get a long ride in next weekend. Spring just doesn't want to show up in New England.

I tried some new Oil of Olay eye cream and had an allergic reaction to it, so I've looked like a guppy since Friday. I keep taking Benadrly, but it's not helping. It could be worse, I could have my wisdom teeth still. ; ) Candice, I hope your mouth feels better. Are you going to have them removed soon?

Sue, great job jumping back on that horse. I love the Xtrain weight work.

Hi to Addie and Shereta. : )

Quick checkin.

Funeral was fine. Some good things were said about my FIL and it was good to catch up with the rest of the family. Thanks for the well wishes. I appreciate them.

Workout today was Trisets Total body premix. Fun and sweaty.

Candice, sorry about your mouth. Poor thing.

Tina, spring just got to Ga so I feel your irritation.

Sue, I normally don't follow a rotation either. I just loose interest in wants planned sometimes and choose something else. But, as long as we keep working out, that's all that matters. Glad you got off your bumbum and did something. :) I love Cathe's premixes because the full length workouts are just too long sometimes.

Today I got my workout done first thing - hard strikes, cardio only. Tomorrow I will eat breakfast first - I had very low energy & it was hard to get through the workout. But I'm glad I got it out of the way because work exploded this afternoon & I'll be mostly working all night.

Tina I hope the weather starts cooperating and giving you some good riding days :). Are your eyes calming down? I hope you can return the product for a refund.

Nice workout Shereta, glad you got home safe :)

Candice is your mouth feeling any better?

Hi Addie, I hope everything's all right with you!

We squeezed in another bike ride tonight. The weather looks soggy for the next four or more days, so we took advantage. It felt like I was playing hookey from weight lifting today. Tomorrow will be GS and a long ab workout. No cardio for the next two days.

I wish I could switch off the appetite control in my brain. I've been having evil thoughts about homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

Sue, my eyeballs are still burning and the skin around them looks like I haven't slept in weeks. Very attactive. Thank goodness I haven't had to go anywhere too important. Your work sounds like it's been very stressful lately. Do you have a vacation soon? I hope so!

Glad you made it home safe Shereta. Way to kick it back into gear with Trisets. That leg section is tough!
