Fatigue and your body?

I did a Itrain workout friday morning, it kicked my butt. I ran saturday morning with my friends and thought for sure I would be tired from the itrain workout. It was the opposite, I felt fast and light then I took sunday off and ran this morning. Today I felt sluggish and heavy. I just dont understand why after a rest day that I would feel like that. I have a race on saturday I was planning on doing another Itrain workout tomorrow and then my bootcamp class on wednesday night and then rest thurs/friday race on saturday but I am afraid I will feel the same way, sluggish and not up to top speed. I did this exact same workout before and on saturday was sluggish. How can I avoid feeling this way come saturday? thanks!

It may be that you're overtraining?

Usually when I feel that way, one of 3 things is the culprit:
1. I need a rest - more than just one day
2. I'm getting sick
3. Aunt Flo is right around the corner.

Maybe take 2-3 days off instead of just one and give it another go?

thanks. I am at the end of my monthly visitor. I dont think I am over training because I am taking at least 2 days off a week sometimes 3 if needed. These HIIT workouts are new to me so maybe that is why I was sluggish this morning but you'd think I would have been more sluggish on saturdays run the day after the HIIT. Oh well, aunt flo and being new to these workouts. I have only done 3 of them. I am addicted though. LOVE them!!

Hi Laura:

Have you been doing intense cardio, like running, for a while now? I used to do quite a bit of cardio/running and in all honesty felt tired and sluggish a lot. I cut back to 2-3 hours of intentional cardio a week and the fatigue has gone away.

HTH!

I usually run 2-3 days a week and teach a bootcamp class 2x week. I usually only workout 5 days a week with 2 rest days. We have been running our boys around alot for sports and I think it all together gets me on some days. I have a 5k on saturday and want to do well but I want to get one more day of running in and I have class on wednesday night so thats is why I thought I would take thurs/friday as rest days and then race on saturday. I have tried this before and felt fine and other times sluggish as well. I guess one doest know how their bodies will react until the time comes. thanks for suggestions ladies.

I workout first thing in the morning so if I've not eaten well the night before (good protein, complex carbs, well hydrated) then I'll have a poor workout the following day.

Good luck on your 5K,

Ive been feeling really unmotivated. Ive been lifting heavy now for about 10 weeks and I'm just like going through the motions. I dont know what it is. Like Im just tired of eating clean and working out. I want to take off 2 weeks and start again May 1st. Is this too long of a break? Will I lose anything Ive gained? I also have been snacking more and just falling off track. Whats going on???

10 weeks straight of heavy lifting is alot. Perhaps your body just needs the break from heavy weights.

When I did the p90x rotation I was exhausted even WITH the "recovery" weeks that were given where no heavy lifting was done.
