Fat Flush?

Has anyone read this book? If so, what do you think?
Also, the author said that each pound of muscle you put on your body burns 70 calories an hour - this sounds like more than I thought. Does anyone know if this is the correct figure?

I haven't read the book, but I think the calorie burn is wrong. From what I've read, a pound of muscle burns 30-some calories PER DAY. Could be more or less depending on the individual, but 70 per day would even be high, and 70 per hour....I wish!

Yeah, this didn't seem right to me either. And it makes me wonder about the rest of the book.

Does anyone know the right figure (for calorie burning)?

A pound of muscle requires about 35 calories per day to maintain itself at rest. Exercise elevates this amount significantly.

The book said 70 calories per hour?? That would be 1680 calories per pound per day. A person with just 10 pounds of muscle would expend a whopping 16800 calories every day.

I hope the book has a typo--otherwise, they're so off base it isn't even funny!

Could they be referring to calories burned while exercising? Does a muscle in movement use that many more calories than a muscle at rest?
