fanny lifter

Is the fanny lifter a good substitute for the special tool that Cathe uses in the strength videos? I read a bad comment on its stability.

I can't speak on the fanny lifter since I've never tried it, but I have read some discouraging comments about it over at videofitness, even several about it actually cracking under weight of 200lbs, but I can tell you one of the best pieces of advice I EVER got about a "tall step" was right here from honeybunch. She suggested the Rubbermaid step stool/toolbox. It's about 13 or 14 inches high, and perfect for step ups/leg presses, etc., plus you can store your lighter dumbbells inside. I believe my hubby paid $12. for it at the hardware store, and it can withstand heavy weight (trust me) without giving, bending or cracking! :)
It's one of my most used pieces of equipment! And probably one of the smartest buys I've made.
(thanks honeybunch :))

What is the "special tool"???? I am at a loss here, but I own the Rubbermaind stool as well and it is great for those step ups in Leaner Legs. As far as laying on it as a bench or stepping with it in her step workouts...definetly not!!! Is that what you want to know?? If you already have a "fanny lifter", yes, it will work for the step-ups in the Cathe tapes..I think she calls them sit and stands....Janice

Janice,
The "special tool" (maybe she meant special STOOL) is the mini step that Cathe uses in the PS series. A half step that you have to make by hand by cutting a regular stool.

Yes, the Fanny Lifter that the Firm uses will work for Cathe strength training tapes. I use it all the time. As for the bad remarks, the first Fanny Lifters sent out were defective. They sent them all back and got a new manufacturer and there have been no complaints with the new Fanny Lifters.

Rubbermaid step/toolbox

My hubby found mine at our local Lowe's. But I remember Honeybunch telling me she found hers at Target's (we don't have a Target's here in the boonies), so I would suggest Target's if you have one in your area, or Wal-mart, K-mart or even try checking your local hardware store.
I really liked it because it felt sturdy. When I first started using it I weighed about 250lbs, so I wanted something that could support my weight and make me feel safe during exercise. Plus the added bonus of storage space for ankle weights, 3# and 5# dumbbells, and who knows whatelse I've thrown in there! :)
