Family okay, but lost everything in Hurricane

Hello!

Just wanted to post a message on the forum that myself and my family got out okay, but we have lost everything. It's times like these that make you realize what is really important.

We evacuated to Vicksburg, MS, and now I am outside of Baton Rouge at my mom's house. ( I went to a friend's house to use her computer because my mom does not have one).

It has been frustrating to watch this all unfold in the media and it feels like I am in a dream that I can't wake up from. My husband and I are lucky that our companies are being very kind and trying to help us. It looks like we will be relocating to Dallas. I was hoping to go back home and salvage some things on the 2nd floor of my home at some point, but judging from some of the pictures I have seen on the internet and TV, it won't be possible. We were east of the city where there has not been as much media coverage in St. Bernard Parish. From what we understand, most houses in my subdivision had 12 feet of water. Unfortunately, it is possible that some in our neighborhood were too stubborn to leave. That is why I am so thankful for our lives, if nothing else.

I will not be able to check into the forums much at all for a while, unfortunately, but I know that when we get back on our feet, working out will be very good therapy for me. Hope to visit you guys on the forum again soon.

Take care, Sandra S.

I don't know you and you probably won't get this message because you won't have access to a computer. My heart and prayers go out to you and to everyone who is now suffering through this devestation. I can't imagine what your going through right now. Do what you need to keep up your endurance and once again my prayers are with you.

Sandra...I can't even imagine the heartache of loosing your home and everything in it. I thank God you and your family got out in time. It's got to be a bit frustrating watching all the media coverage. Some think they go a bit too far on occasion. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We will miss you here and look forward to your return...sending hugs your way.. http://bestsmileys.com/hugging/3.gif[/img]...Carole

Sandra, I am so happy to hear that you and your family are safe. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your home. I will keep you in my prayers.

Sandra, I would like to add my condolences and my heartfelt good wishes to you and your family.

My brother is in pretty much the same pot - he got out with the clothes on his back, his dog, his credit cards and I-Book and dog, and that's about what he has now in the world. No home, and no job. He was an entertainment editor and film critic for a New Orleans weekly, and the chances of there being any entertainment in New Orleans anytime soon are pretty slim.

BUT - you and your family - and he - are ALIVE, among friends and family, and that's what counts.

We're rooting for you, Sandra. Please stay in touch with us.

Love,

Annette

So sorry to hear about all the chaos in your life, but thankfully you and your family are safe. Best of luck to you in Dallas.

Thank God you are your family are okay. That is what truly matters....what is that saying?

"Home is where the heart is."

Believe in that at times like this. It is sooo true.:)

Sandra, don't know when you'll get this...but letting you know how good it is to know you and family are okay. I'm so sorry you lost everything...but you're right about realizing what is really important. And that is so good to know you have your jobs (though having to relocate...something so many will have to do)...keeping you in our prayers, girl. Check in when you can and let us know how you're doing...

Sandra,

So glad you and your family are safe. Sorry to hear about your home, but at least you are ok. Good luck getting your lives back together, I'm sure it will be a long road, but all of us here are rooting for you.

Take Care!

I am so sorry for the loss of your home. Seeing the devastation on tv is quite disturbing. I hope you and your family the best as you relocate and begin anew.

Sandra -

I'm so sorry for all that you and your family have endured. The important thing is that you and your family are safe and your companies are being very generous to help you. Best of luck in getting back on your feet-we are all here for you.

Blessings,
Angie

My heart goes out to you and your family. It is so hard to watch on TV - I can't imagine how you feel. New Orleans has always been one of my favorite vacation sites. I have family that lives in New Orleans and surrounding areas. Some of them lost everything too. Cyber hugs and prayers to you.
